Apr 11, 2013 - Willow Tree RV Resort

The weather was wonderful today. It was 85F. We came to Willow Tree RV resort to visit with Bryce and Jan, who are on their way to visit friends at Myrtle Beach. We had very poor cell phone service here, and even worse wifi at this park. The park itself is very nice, but I hate paying $50 and not having wifi. We enjoyed an evening of visiting with Jan and Bryce. We went out for breakfast together before saying our "goodbyes" and headed north. The weather is a little risky, with tornadoes in the area and lots of over night rain.

On 3/9 our next stop was Jacksonville Beach. We stopped at the same condo complex we stopped at last year. A great easy cheap stop where our friends who live near here, Pete & Betty, could easily get to visit. They had just got back from Cuba where they have gone three times now on mission trips. After 3 nights on Skidaway Island, we leave on 3/7 for Darian, GA where we hear there is a free town dock to tie to. This morning, Larry, the dockmaster got up early and met us at the dock at 0700 to help us untie since the current would be very great. What a gem he is. We did our strategy to untie from the inner most slip and traverse the space between docks with the current on our beam, which meant that once we were pointed down the alleyway, we were committed to gooooooo! 3/1/13: N. Myrtle Beach Well, after spending 3 days in N. Myrtle Beach, provisioning, finishing up some minor details, and socializing with good friends the Whitley' and Thompson's, it was time to head out for our next long trip. Feb 15, 2013 - Trip South Planning Begun

We plan on trying again this year for the Bahamas leaving N. Myrtle beach March 1. Last year's attempt was a bust due to mechanical problems, a late start and 4 named storms two months earlier than historical. The boat is 95% ready this time versus not being ready last time with oil changes, filters, pump maintenance, new bottom paint, canvas repairs, furniture, exhaust, HVAC, batteries, valves adjusted, flushed heat exchangers, zincs, dinghy motor maintenance. We need to provision, do some cleaning, and some minor details and we are ready....

Nov 30, 2012 - North Myrtle Beach, SC - HOME

This is still our home for now. This fall we have been fixing up JR for our next trip and just enjoying her as a condo at the beach. We have spent more $$$ than we want to admit, but she now has: new bottom paint, all buffed out, fiberglass repaired from Hurricane Debbie, new exhaust, re-furbished cooling system on gen-set, new canvas for lower helm, new bilge pump, new salon table and new furniture for the upper deck, clean bilge, dink outboard R&R, zincs, new computer for the boat, and numerous other small items. In December, we had a driveway and parking site cut in on some property we have on the Sanford Road in Pittsboro. We moved our motor home there in late December. Most of our immediate family celebrated Christmas at our son’s beach house in Corolla, on the Outer Banks. A snow storm brought 3” of snow to Corolla, so we enjoyed a rare white Christmas.
