Oct 25, 2009 - South Carolina

Weds. Oct 14 - Fri Oct 22 Myrtle Beach State Park We had a nice relaxing week. It rained all the way to the park and while we set up, and was rainy or cloudy everyday through Sat. There were a few breaks where we got to ride bikes and walk on the beach. Nice park and a great beach. Paul's big project was to set up the satellite dish. After the second day of trying, the neighbor felt sorry for him and brought over his signal tester and they finally got it up and running. We checked out Huntington Beach State Park. Nice park too, bigger,...

Jun 6, 2009 - Murrel's Inlet and Margaritaville

A lot of rain last night and there are a number of wet tenters around us. We had to move sites this morning but that's no big deal. On to our new site by 10:30 and then off to Murrel's Inlet just south of Myrtle Beach. No shopping involved, just lunch. Ate at Creek Ratz on a beautiful covered deck overlooking the water. Marilyn went for the deep fried oyster platter and I had a blackened grouper sandwich. We then headed over to one of the new complexes called Broadway on the Beach. It is a small town surrounding a man-made lake. Stores,...

Jun 5, 2009 - Myrtle Beach and the Carolina Opry

Had rain last night. No thunderstorms just rain. Spent some time in the office this morning as they have internet access. Met a couple from just east of Algonquin Park. They are traveling in an Aliner trailer. That's the one that tows flat and likes like a teepee when it's raised. They are like us in that they travel in the spring for a month (black fly season) and a month in the fall. Nice people. We then went to the Grand Coastal Mall as Marilyn wanted to check out Dillard's, a large upscale department store. Guess what she found? Another...

Jun 4, 2009 - Myrtle Beach

Very hot and humid this morning. Rode our bikes to the office and met Josh. We were checking to see if there was a site for Saturday. There was and there was a better site for the next 2 nights so we switched sites. Done by noon. We'll have to switch sites again Saturday morning but it's no big deal with the 5er. Much easier to hook up than the travel trailer. Headed to one of the Tanger Outlets to look for Marilyn's wedding dress. Success! She is ecstatic. Now she can relax and browse the other stores. Still looking but no pressure. By the...

Jun 3, 2009 - Problem Solved and on to Myrtle Beach

Work started on the cord just after 8:00 AM and I decided to have a cord connection put in the bed of the truck so this problem wouldn't happen again. This way you don't have a cord hanging over the tailgate. Got a quote and it was reasonable. The cord was finished by noon. Took longer than expected and we hooked up to try it out. Still no brakes. Oh! Oh! Checked out the controller. It was OK. After about an hour and phoning the brake controller manufacturer to get advice, phoning my dealer, Can Am RV in London, and phoning the fifth wheel...

Nov 6, 2008 - It's a Jungle Out There

After a 4 hour trip we arrived at Myrtle Beach State Park and we'll be here until Monday. The park is not what I expected or should I say the campsite I picked out when I made the reservation online is not that great of a campsite. We are in the midst of a tree canopy and it looks like a jungle. Mosquitos are abundant and there is a mudhole out front. Tomorrow we may ask about moving to another site or we may just say put. It's only for 4 nights. The weather is just great and we're back in shorts and t-shirts. We went for a stroll on the...

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Oct 18, 2008 - Myrtle Beach

We got to Myrtle Beach and went to a state park. We camped there for two nights. We went putt putting. It was pretty fun. First we went to the Hawaiian Rumble. It was not as good as the La Vernia putt putt. It really wasn't, Aunt Julie. (I had a fun time with you at that putt putt. I hope we can go again.) Then we went home and slept. We woke up and did some school and went to another putt putt. It was called Captain Hook. It was much more fun than the Hawaiian Rumble. It had a ramp and holes that you had to putt into. We went into a cave...

A Good Time

Apr 8, 2008 - Myrtle Beach State Park

Tuesday April 8…10:45pm Today we drove the 100 miles or so to Myrtle Beach. The state park is on the far south side of town. It’s a large park, with over 350 sites. We didn’t have a reservation, which turned out to be okay, although this park does get very busy at times. Around 4pm, we went for a bike ride to the main beach hotel area. Now that March break appears to be pretty much over (although there are still some kids here) the hotels and motels are definitely not busy. We see signs outside the hotels advertising rooms for between $28...

Apr 5, 2008 - Myrtle Beach State Park

How time flies when your having fun! We made it to Myrtle Beach State Park, SC. Driving into this park is like driving into a country club. It is beautiful! Unfortunately, we only had one night here. We arrived right around dinner time, so at the suggestion of our Park Ranger, we headed to Crabby Mike's all you can eat buffet for dinner. It was a really cute place and they had all you could eat crab legs plus much more. Spencer ate like we starve him. Randy and I ended up waiting for about a half hour while Spencer finished eating. In the...
