Jun 11, 2013 - South Carolina
As we contnued up the east coast we contemplated where next. We tend to follow the philosophy of one of our favorite travel people, Anthony Bourdain "No Reservations". In that light, we may or may not know where we are headed next. This was no exception. We decided to stop in Charleston. We camped about 20 minutes outside of town, a town with lots of outlying traffic repairs, thus congestion. I must admit the wait was worth it. This town is has a huge waterfront which of course is where we tend to migrate. Still in progress...

Ralph found a new member resort in Socastee, South Carolina called Cypress Camping Resort. Socastee is just outside Myrtle Beach and is within 5 miles of Lakewood RV Park where Chuck and Dottie, our friends from Honeoye stay every fall. For the last 5 or so years we try to get here for a week to spend some time with them but normally stay in North Myrtle Beach which is a good 20 some miles from them. They are a great couple and always a lot of fun to spend time with. Over the years, they have shown us many new places and things to see and...

Nov 5, 2012 - Day 113 - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
We went exploring today to the Campers World, the first one we have seen. It was very full of camping goodies, including a Pay By The Month Satellite TV System. I had been resigning myself to having to depend on cable TV to get my TV fixes for the winter but this system could work for us if our antennae is what we think it is. We also find the shopping centers to try to find Garry some new sandals as his are needing to be replaced. Even in this resort town, with countless beachwear stores, no decent sandals to be found, it is winter you...

Nov 4, 2012 - Day 112 - To Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
We headed south again today to escape cool weather that keeps catching up to us. The travelled down Highway 17 about 3 hours to Myrtle Beach. We were planning to go to the KOA but met a fellow from the area at a rest stop on the way that suggested the State Park there instead as it is right on the ocean. We found the Myrtle Beach State Park with no issues and set up camp. We had just enough time before supper for a walk on the beach, and what a beach it is. Miles and miles of powdery sand and dunes with sea grass. Turtles like to nest here...

It has a long beach and boardwalk with many, many resort hotels lining the beach. It is very popular destination during spring break among the high school and college crowd and during the summer. It was not crowded at all during the fall months which was very nice.

Jun 25, 2012 - The Maiden Voyage continued
Our trip continued on Monday - we got a away late due to a tornado warning in the area and it appeared that TS Debby continued escorting us as we made our way through Georgia. She left us at the SC border and we saw the sun for the first time in several days. The driving also became a lot easier. Arrived at Willow Tree Campground around 6 PM to end the 604 mile trip. For a simple trip this has been quite the adventure - however we made it with no cuts or bruises and only a few cross words by anyone.
