Jun 10, 2019 - Myrtle Beach, SC (Briarcliffe RV Resort)

3/31/2019 to 5/7/2019 We made it to Pass Christian, MS which is as far west as we will go this year. This is a favorite area for us so we stayed 5 weeks and spent time in casinos and sitting along the gulf enjoying the wave action. Ralph is doing much better and this has given him more time to relax and get his strength back. 5/7/2019 to 5/27/2019 On the road again heading east. Spent a few days in Georgia then went to Yemassee, SC for two weeks. Our first week was nice but the second week was hot with record highs in the 100’s for 4 days....

Dec 17, 2018 - Heading to South Carolina

Yesterday we pulled out of soggy Roanoke Rapids and headed down I-95 once again. It's so nice to drive I-95 on a Sunday morning, little traffic, very few trucks. And within an hour, the clouds were gone and the sun was out. It was a good trip. We turned East on I-40 to Wilmington and then South on US-17. We're heading for the town of Little River, it's about a 20 minute drive from Myrtle Beach. It's supposed to be a very new campground and it's prices are slightly lower than Myrtle Beach proper. We're not too concerned about being on the...

Nov 1, 2018 - Myrtle Beach with Dee

10/17/18 – 11/01/18 We arrived at the Briarcliffe RV Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC on October 17th. Our visits here are under our Coast-to-Coast Premier arrangement so there is no site rental fee but they have a small resort fee, 50 amp fee and South Carolina’s outrageous hotel tax. Since all these fees amount to a small fraction of the retail standard fees, it’s still a great deal. This resort is among the very best RV Resorts we have visited and besides that, it’s located where our daughter resides, so here we are happy campers. Another...

Jul 20, 2018 - Friday, Myrtle Beach SC

We pulled out of Charlotte Camping World Campground around 10 am this morning for our drive to Pirateland Campground in Myrtle Beach SC. The drive was alright until we got to Darlington SC and the road was closed with no detour, which was nice of them. Not sure how we got around it but we did and it cost us an extra hour driving. Other than that it was a nice drive until we got into a rain storm about 20 miles from Myrtle Beach. Traffic was slowed to a crawl because it was raining so hard. We finally arrived at 4 pm, took a lot of time for...

2018 South Trip

Jun 11, 2018 - Myrtle Beach with our daughter Dee

5/29/18 – 6/11/18 We arrived at the Briarcliffe RV Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC mid-day May 29th. The Briarcliffe RV Resort is among the nicest resorts in the Coast-to-Coast system. We’ve been visiting Myrtle Beach for more than twenty years. Originally we visited just because it was an interesting place to visit, then we discovered our very dear friends, Chuck & Dottie Burr, stayed here for several weeks every fall so that became our motivation. Chuck has since passed away and this was the place when we last saw him, so Myrtle Beach holds...

May 25, 2018 - Myrtle Beach

We had a nice, if uneventful, visit to Myrtle Beach. We stayed at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. We stayed here last year. It is a large park with about 400 full-hookup sites on sandy soil near the beach. We had a couple days of rain and did some beach walking on the other days.

Apr 21, 2018 - April Update

Well, here we go yet again .... where has the time gone! *** Since we last wrote, we have seen and done much, and, much has changed. *** March 15th through March 23rd we stayed at Saint George Island State Park FL. (https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/St-George-Island) This is part of the "forgotten coastline" of Florida. It indeed is a much more rural and less congested area than say the Destin / Pensacola area. Miles and miles of white sandy beach here! Also it is a wonderful place for a leisurely bike ride and there were two boat...

Nov 2, 2017 - Myrtle Beach, SC

We arrived at the RVacation RV Park in Selma, NC for an overnight stay. This is a first class park with nice pull-thru sites with large covered concrete patio and lawn furniture. The park is so nice that we are encouraged to stay longer but this is also a high priced park, so one night will do the trick. In route to Myrtle Beach we discovered that one side of our motorhome’s mud flap was holding on by a thread. We bought a cheap chain and tied up the mud flap to prevent it from falling off and damaging our towed Jeep or other vehicles on...

Jun 17, 2017 - Myrtle Beach, SC

Our first stop east was at Beaver Lake Campground in Quincy, FL. This is a bare bones Passport America campground located behind a gas station. All thirty sites are pull-through with full hook-ups and 50 amp service about a quarter mile off I-10, convenience is the key here. Next stop east was at the Walkabout Campground, another convenient Passport America park in Woodbine, GA. In the past we would usually stay here a couple of days to visit with friends in Brunswick but this time it was a solemn visit in memory of our dear friend Richard...

May 6, 2017 - Myrtle Beach, SC

May 6, 2017 Cool morning (in the mid 50’s). We are off to Conway, a small town of about 16,000 people NE of Myrtle Beach. Driving in MB is like driving in FL beach towns but far more touristy. 4 lane roads with strip malls on each side full of beach wear, restaurants, miniature golf, grocery stores, golf clubs followed by huge car lots with inventory that goes on for blocks. Of course the traffic is bumper to bumper. We are so happy to be in the forested camp with only the airport noise! The private camps are almost like resorts for golf,...

May 5, 2017 - Charleston to Myrtle Beach, SC

May 5, 2017 We had a rude awakening this morning. The bathroom (where we keep our shoes) had 3 inches of water in it and was about to overflow outside down the rig floor. It was clear water (thank goodness) but we have no idea from where it came. We don’t shower or put water down the sink both of which flow into the grey water tank which apparently backed up. We were using city water and can only think it backed up into the grey water tank for some reason. I undid the shower plug to let the water out, Bob emptied the tanks and I wiped up...
