Jan 23, 2012 - Winter In Carolina Beach, NC

Well, Just Relax has been sad this winter with us getting to visit her some, but we seem to hit the weather bad every time we go. We have done some good things to baby her. We have all new canvas (see pics) and it is very much upgraded. Federal Point Yacht Club is a very nice place to house her and she is safe there. In addition, we have been doing much major maintenance, including the normal oil changes, etc, and rebuilding the steering cylinder, cleaning all heat exchangers, learning how to maintain the generator. We are now famous on the...

Sep 25, 2011 - Leechville, NC to Carolina Beach, NC

9/19, we finally leave Dowry Creek after getting to know a few new boaters including even a sailboater, Luna. We keep running into them as we head south and continue to enjoy seeing them. We decide to go to Oriental free dock at the last minute as we need an ice cream fix and hear that the Inland Provision Company is back open for business. Also, we re-connect with Knot Busy here too, who spent a few days seeing Little Washington, NC. There are small craft warnings out, but since the wind is to our back, we have no problems getting here....

Sep 25, 2011 - Summary 2011 Northeast Trip

We enjoy this trip, wanting to see so much more than we have gotten to see before. We met our goal, but unfortunately, family comes first, so we still missed out on much, but we continue to be so blessed to have our life. We are so glad that we enjoy these trips so much. Stress is almost gone while we travel on Just Relax and we are so glad we kept the name that the Mobleys gave her. The lessons we have learned about life have been immense. The things we used to stress over, that we don't anymore. The T-shirt is so right, "Don't Sweat the...

Sep 18, 2011 - Portsmith, VA to Leechville, NC

Leaving Portsmith for the ICW taking our sweet time now. As we leave Portsmith, we decide it is best to sleep in (except for the Ferry boat horns) and make the 0930 bridge opening. The bridge south of Portsmith is closed in the mornings now, so either we have to make it before 0630 or wait. The government is building a new high rise bridge which is a couple of years to completion, so in the meantime, boaters have to wait and wait.... However, if a commercial boat/barge needs to get through, then most of the time they let us recreational...

Sep 11, 2011 - Delaware City, DL to Portsmith, VA

We leave Delaware City for a short 2 hr. run to Chesapeake City. The free dock includes power for $15 and we love the little spot in the corner we discovered 3 years ago that states that boats of our size wont fit, but we do, even though we touch bottom at low tide. It is away from the wakes and traffic. The C&D canal was nice to us with no ships to dodge. The town was empty since the weather was rainy and dank. SummerTime also is here ahead of us by a day, but leave the next day, as we decide to stay two days. It is nice having the extra...

Sep 4, 2011 - Old Saybrook, CT to Delaware City, DL

On 8/30, we leave Old Saybrook to begin our trek back home to NC/SC. We left at 0530, and were on our way by 0600 for a long day. We were to hook up with our friends from the Great Loop, Joyce and Matt on Trinity, but as things worked out, we missed them, and we are so sad about that, but we decided that we needed to get to NJ ICW since bad weather was coming again. We travel until 5:30 p.m. and grab a free mooring ball at Manhassett Bay, NY on the eastern and northern side of Long Island. The water taxi came by to make sure we were...

Aug 30, 2011 - Charlotte, NC to Old Saybrook, CT

Well, where do we begin? We had a very busy time in Charlotte getting much done. John did a lot of homeowers association stuff (he is on the board) along with us catching up with some friends. We find all our friends doing well as are family. As we get older, however, saying we find our friends doing well includes the normal hearing of aches and pains along with the occasional non-life threatening operations. We also hear of new arrivals/pregnancies of grandkids - lol. Included in these announcements is the expecting of daughter/son...

Aug 13, 2011 - Charlotte, NC

See the previous posting for our ventures since the last update. We travel home for 3 weeks via car to see the family for a promised vacation with the grandkids before they go back to school. North Myrtle Beach was chosen and we find a decent condo on the beach for a week of good times. It was good to see the kids. They grow so fast. We plan on being back on the boat on 8/23 to continue our travels.

Jul 31, 2011 - Mystic, CT; Hyannis & Falmouth, MA, Charlotte, NC

We have managed to do some sightseeing while here taking care of Sue's dad and sister. Since the last posting, we have done some touring around Old Saybrook, our current home. It sure is nice having our own bed to sleep in each night. It is the one constant in our lives right now. The folks on neighbor boats at our marina have been great, checking up on us to make sure we are ok. We have also done some projects on the boat (took canvas off and cleaned and sewed up loose stitches), installing new cockpit carpet (which we have wanted to do...

Jul 17, 2011 - Block Island, RI; Long Island Sound; Sag Harbor/Greenport, NY

Since we have been here in Old Saybrook this past 6 weeks helping take care of Sue's dad, we finally got to do some exploring for a few days taking three short trips. We are so thankful to God for Sue's dad's health improving. So blessed, that we got to take him, Maurine, and some of Sue's family out for a boat ride on Father's Day. We were a little nervous because getting the two elderly ones on/off the boat was a little tough, but we made it by placing a board for them to walk on. The weather was great but all the weekend warriors were...

Jun 1, 2011 - Pt. Pleasant, NJ to Old Saybrook, CT

5/30 has us leaving in a nice forecast of following seas and sun for Sandy Hook, NJ anchor. We could not believe how nice a day it was. We take the side channel into the harbor versus the ship channel even though it is longer, but we are out of the way of ships. The Manesquan inlet which is the beginning of the NJ ICW is neat and easy to run. So easy, even a cave man could do it (OK, this is not all that funny, eh? But we did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once). As we arrive at Sandy Hook, it is still early in the day and the forecast for...

May 29, 2011 - Delaware City, DL to Pt. Pleasant, NJ

5/22: Continuing on our Delaware City visit, we stay total of 4 days, and enjoyed them all with Tarquin. The marina continued to serve us well and we plan on stopping here on our way back south. We take a fairly long walk to the old fort area which is now taken over by various, mostly, gov't agencies. Many buildings are in bad shape, not being used. We go here twice since the second day there is a surplus store run by the gov't that sells, I guess, confiscated stuff from criminals, or retired things. John loves it as mostly tools/parts......
