Jun 16, 2015 - The Neufelds

We've stopped in Virginia for lunch. We're on our way to Washington, D.C. We'll be staying there for four nights. On the drive this morning, I was reflecting on our friends, the Neufelds. They were kind enough to host us for the day/night. The kids got to visit historical sites in the area and go swimming with Kirsten and Lauren, who are home for the summer from college. I loved seeing the kids get to spend time with these two extraordinary young ladies, who are aspiring to do wonderful things in the world. We are so grateful that we have...

East Loop Trip 2015

Aug 30, 2011 - Day 50: Greenwood, SC

Yesterday we drove from GREENsboro to GREENwood. Ralph's brother lives here so we're visiting for a day or two before heading to Charleston to visit more family! We enjoyed our visit with Dick and Lynda Hord. Their home was a welcome relief after our escape from the northeast! Lynda was a gracious hostess; she hasn't changed a lot since our days at St. Andrews! Since Tracey and Amy will be in Charleston for the Labor Day weekend, we decided to stay until Sunday. Hopefully, we'll avoid the holiday traffic that way! The last thing we need is...

May 18, 2008 - A visit with Fred and Nancy in Greenwood, SC

We enjoyed seeing Fred again and getting to know his wife Nancy. Joe and I worked with Fred in our 'other' life. Allison Transmission lost a great mind and a wealth of knowledge when Fred retired. He and Joe enjoyed talking 'shop' again. Nancy retired from nursing. They have a beautiful retirement home in Greenwood where they can golf to their hearts content. They recommended Lake Greenwood State Park. The lakefront scenery was so peaceful. Fred and Nancy enjoyed being hosts and giving us the grand tour of the area and the historical...

New England Bound

Mar 26, 2007 - West Columbia, SC

March 26th, we left for West Columbia, SC to visit with Matt and Stephanie this evening. The next campground is also one we have stayed in before since it is near Matt's house. The name is "Barnyard" It is similar to the campground in Woodbine, but the grounds are kept a little better. And, true to its name, there a few roosters roaming around. There is also a fenced in pond with quite a few ducks and geese. Our dogs think this is great when we take them for a walk, although the geese hiss at them. That evening Matt and Stephanie came over...

Full-Time-RVing

Jul 27, 2006 - Hartwell, GA to McCormick, SC

We loaded the bikes into the van before sunrise and drove to the Savannah River. At dawn, we started in South Carolina on very quiet, less traveled roads (thanks Gus, great job navigating.) Our goal was to travel as far as possible before the heat and humidity got bad. The pace was fast. Flat roa ds and some rolling hills were real treat after almost week in the mountains. Our first immediate stop this morning was McCormick, SC, near the Savannah River
