Jun 5, 2018 - start of our newest travel adventure

Greetings! Since our last post on April 21 we have wondered, once again, where has the time gone? Not only has it been six weeks since our last post, it has been one year since we were honored with a wonderful retirement BBQ at Wrightsville Beach recreation area in Middlesex VT.!! Over the last six weeks were able to spend time at the beach’s in the area, watch the Blue Angles air show (and their practicing for several days before the show), enjoy several ventures out to the ice cream parlor on banana split Thursdays, saw hundreds (probably...

May 26, 2017 - Beginning our Journey!

We visited with our Son Kevin and his wife Allison for 3 days. Stayed at Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville SC. It rained some but that did not deter us. It dropped down to 56 at night. That was a welcome change. Drove to Waynesvilke NC. Beautiful scenery along the way. We got scalped at Cherokee casino. Staying only 1 night then on to Oakridge TN to see my Aunt Louise and her son Ronnie and his family. Pride campground is beautiful! Can look up at the bright green foothills of the Appalachian.

Jul 27, 2013 - Returning Home

Wow. What a long day! Almost 10 hrs on the plane from Geneva to New York! Almost unbearable. Then about 12 more hours to get home. John could hardly see to drive! We pulled into our driveway at about 1 AM. Our luggage was lost of course. It is supposed to be delivered to our home when they find it! But this is just a minor problem. We travelled far and wide with really no problems. So now it is time to plan another expedition. Carpe Annum!

Jul 18, 2013 - Day Trip To Beautiful Greenville

Although we list our town as Westminster, we're actually 11 miles south of there. The nearest larger city is Greenville about 50 miles up Interstate 85. So on one of our first days off, we ventured up not expecting too much. Boy were we surprised. Greenville has a population of about 60,000 and it wasn't hard to find the heart of downtown. One of the first things we noticed were some streets blocked off so we parked the car and walked over. Sure enough, we wandered into a market - their Saturday Market. It was on Main Street and what a...

Jun 24, 2013 - Thomson/Greenville

We needed to go to Thomson to cut the grass and close up the house as we may be gone for quite some time. Spent the night there and then headed up to Greenville to spend the night at my mom's. My brother, Johnny, came over to eat one of Bill's special salmon Alfredo meals.

May 13, 2013 - Southern Hospitality= Southern Comfort

The much underrated Tom Petty sings two songs (at least) pertinent to this post: 1) souther Accent: "I got my own way of talkin where I (pronounced "ahh") come from, but everything gets done, with a Southern Accent where I come from..." 2) in Louisiana Rain, he sings:" South Carolina puts its arms for me, right up until everything went black on lonely street, and I still can't quite remember who helped me to my feet, Thank God for the love that followed the angels remedy" Worth listening to, if you haven't already. I have always liked the...

Dec 10, 2012 - Greenville House Hunting

Monday, 12/10/12 rainy, 60's It's been a while since my last entry. Been looking daily at houses all around Greenville suburbs. Houses range in age from 20 years to new construction, many would be candidates but they don't allow RVs or the property is a steep grade. We continue to be pleased with the Greenville area. Good downtown, healthy economy with some major manufacturing including BMW and Michelin in the area. We are experiencing the traffic resulting from this activity; but there are places that seem to avoid that congestion. We went...

Dec 6, 2012 - Looking at properties

12/6 Thursday, we meet with David and see 6 possible properties, he seems to be listening to us and we are comfortable with this Realtor. Back at his office we review and schedule the next 2 days of houses. We had a great pizza at Mello Mushroom, West End. Pick up lots of brochures and plan to go to a Christmas concert at the Art Museum on Saturday. Back at the RV we have dinner of meatloaf, broccoli ,and M&C. I talk to you but I don't hear anything back--- we miss news from the north. Kathie

Dec 3, 2012 - On to Greenville

12/3/12 Rainbow RV Park, Taylor's,SC How to describe this RV Park--none like any we have stayed before. We reserved 2 days and when we checked in we found that a Month's rent was the price of less than a week--so we are here for a while. The park is a long term stay, some have been 10 years, others are contractors for local company's (BMW), Michelin, etc and move in and out yearly. No restrooms, which is a Hugh problem for us as we use our shower as a closet to include a chest of drawers! We have rearranged things and you will be glad to...
