Sep 23, 2018 - New York, New York

We got up early and rode were fortunate to have some close friends take us to the Charlotte airport. Everything was smooth most of the way. Until we got about 30 mins out, and the interstate was at a complete stop. At 6 AM on a Sunday. We sat for awhile then decided to say a prayer, as although we left early. Time was disappearing to make our 8:40 flight. After the prayer, within a few minutes we we're moving and made it safe and sound. We got to our hotel in NY around 11:30, our checkin wasn't until 3. But they kindly let us check in...

Bound For Adventure

Sep 22, 2018 - Last day at home

Today we had a bit of a lazy day. I took the girls out for breakfast. It was nice, and some of our friends from the congregation showed up. Then we went for a walk in town. A little old lady with a puppy came up asked if we could help her with a flat tire. Of course we did. Sheboffers the girls a new Halloween toy she just bought. The immediately, but politely said no. She says, oh, Im a Christian too, but some times I do the wrong thing. The girls told her who we are, and what we are doing tomorrow. So she says let me give the girls some...

Bound For Adventure

Sep 23, 2016 - A moment in time

Today was our last full day on the road. We finished Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. We pulled into South Carolina and visited with some of Dave's cousins that we have not seen in over 35 years. They were cousins on his dad's side. Donna, Ira, and Carl along with their spouses gathered at Donna's house for some pulled pork, chicken, Italian potato tomatoe salad (homemade) and Ira made a lemon pound cake for dessert that was mouth watering. She gave us some for the trip back. Southern family is always a pleasure to visit - it's like we...

Apr 2, 2009 - Aiken, SC

Scott lives in Aiken, SC which is about 4 hours from Cartersville. We plan to spend Easter and a few days with him and his friends. Scott took us to the Hydrogen Center at the Savannah River Project where he has designed a hydrogen fuel cell lab for students of all ages to come for demonstrations. He is real proud of it. Also he is the project engineer for a new home that is being built by a developer there that will be powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. He is excited about that project also. One day we spent time with a realtor to check out...

Oct 10, 2008 - Meeting up with friends

We're off again and heading to Aiken, South Carolina to meet up with some old friends from our Michigan days. We found a little campground that was convenient and pulled in and set up. We met up with Mike and Sandi Haley for an evening of enjoyment. Marty and Mike were linemen together way back when. They had visited in WA and we have kept in contact with Christmas cards and a once in awhile phone call. It was great to hear the guys tell us stories from the good ole days. They showed us their area and we ate at a quaint little restaurant in...

Jul 12, 2008 - Traveling to Aiken, SC

Traveling with Carol, Lou & Beau ........ It was so muddy after the rain when we left Charleston. That was a first for us, muddy shoes, but we survived it. Our GPS took us on the most-direct route to Aiken and we were thankful for that. We had a two-lane road the whole way (165 miles) through very small towns with so many American flags flying - loving their Country. We saw a little bit of America - first-hand. We agreed that the trip was not stressful, but most relaxing. To see countryside we have not seen before is so rewarding for me....

Girl on the Road

Dec 12, 2007 - Aiken, SC

We drove to Aiken, SC where Scott and Brenda work. They came to visit us after work then Brenda spent the night with a friend there and Scott stayed with us overnight. They each have their roommates back in Columbia, so they drive over an hour to work 3 days a week. They work 10 hour days at the Savannah River Project in Aiken, so I know they are really tired by the time they finish their 13 hour days. It was good to see them again.
