5/25 – 5/27 It took us two days to travel 280 miles and reach Charlestown, Rhode Island (I 195, US9, I 287, I 87, US9, SR117, I 684, I 84, I 691, SR217, SR16, SR11, SR85, I 95, US1). Getting around the New York City area and driving in New England can always be an adventure. A couple of times we had to change our route because of parkways that do not allow RV’s and low bridges. It was a relief to drive out of New Jersey, they have to have the worst drivers in the world – and there is not a car sold in Jersey that has working turning lights!...

Oct 16, 2009 - Cape Cod to Rhode Island

Started our morning off with a visit to the vast complex where the New England Patriot’s stadium (Gillette Field) is located. It was only three miles from our campground, so I wanted to go take a look, get pictures for Clare and Reid, etc. After Boston, we headed south towards Cape Cod passing through Plymouth, as mentioned, stopping to view the original ‘Plymouth Rock’ - which was not recognized as such, it seems, for about 140 years after the first pilgrims supposedly stepped ashore on it. Oct 19, 2007 - Rhode Island & Connecticut

Fri 10/19 Well, we have been here in Charlestown, RI for a week. We had rain the day we arrived and last night and today it is windy and on and off rain storms all day. We planned to stay home today to do laundry and catch up with our e-mail so it worked out fine. Our friends are such busy people with work, night school, kids and volunteer projects, we only get to see them for an hour or two in the evening.
