We got up on the Sunday morning and went back into the mansions area to tour one more mansion, and saw lots more as we walked and drove around. From Newport we drove across the giant bridge which connects Newport (on the actual Island part of RI) to the mainland, and on southward and into Connecticut. ... Newport, RI is where many of the rich of America built vast summer "cottages", which they only occupied for 8-10 weeks every summer during America's gilded age from 1890 to when income tax was created in the 1920s sometime. ... We toured from Westerly, on the border of Connecticut, along the bays covering areas like Misquamicut State Beach, East Beach, Charlestown Breachway, East Matunuck, Salty Brine, Roger W Wheeler,Fisherman's Memorial, Scarborough State Parks. ... Started our morning off with a visit to the vast complex where the New England Patriot’s stadium (Gillette Field) is located. Finally found a place at Worden’s Lake – fairly close to Charlestown – but they weren’t really interested in having us there as it was their last day of being open. ... It was just us and a bunch of good ole boys with gallons of booze and a couple of huge pots on a fire, around which they stood and talked loudly until after about 2 in the morning.Started our morning off with a visit to the vast complex where the New England Patriot’s stadium (Gillette Field) is located.
