Jul 13, 2017 - York

Scout seemed to be doing much better when he woke me up at 3am this morning wanting to go outside to potty. I'm a good doggy mom, so I took him out and then fixed him a plate of chicken for an early morning snack. Then I went back to sleep for a few more hours. Our adventure today took us about 30 miles southwest of Harrisburg to the city of York. We had two things on our agenda and the first was to visit the York Vehicle Operations factory for Harley-Davidson. We arrived around 8:35 and were scheduled for the 9:15 tour. The factory is in...

2017 Life in our RV

Jul 13, 2016 - PENNSYLVANIA-Gettysburg Resort

We have moved and arrived at our new RV park; Gettysburg Farm RV Resort! I love this park!! There are tons of goats and several alpacas!! The goats roam freely, and you can pet them all you want. There are also horses and mules, and even a donkey!! It's a nice area with a couple playgrounds, a trail, and a huge swimming pool! Bambi seems to be enjoying all the other dogs and showing them who's boss. This park is my favorite for sure.. The baby goats are so adorable. NOTE: TOMORROW WE GO TO GETTYSBURG BATTLEFIELD

Oct 12, 2014 - RVW National Convention

Lots of letterboxes to be found in this area and I only had time to get about half of them! I lost my pocket camera in one of the parks and didn't find it when I retraced my steps - that really wore me out! I found a replacement on Ebay, won the bid, and had it sent to my sister's house in Indiana. York is the factory tour capital of the world and we did our share of visiting them before the convention started. As you can see, we toured quite a few factories - we even went to Hershey! That has changed a lot since I was there last! We used...

Sep 9, 2014 - York County Fail

We drove to York PA to attend the Oldest County Fair in the USA. The York County Fair was established in 1765. Next year it will be the 250 year anniversary. There weren't a lot of people when we went because it was a Tuesday; however, as the day went by the number of people increased and when we left around 4 PM we could tell there would be a lot attending was the evening progressed. We love fairs and this one was no different. One thing that was very impressive was the animal stalls. They were immaculate, there wasn't a smell and they...

Oct 13, 2013 - York PA Family Motor Coach Association Greater Eastern Rally

Started my fall trip south with a motor coach rally at the York Expo Fairgrounds, 408 coaches attended. Seminars and vendor fair, new motorhome display outside were the daytime activities after coffee and doughnuts each morning while being entertained by the "Frustrated Maestros" who travel around and provide pick-up orchestra/band and choir. Evening entertainment was the Marlins, Johnny Fortune (from the Statler Bros.) and Sarah Getto. It rained 9 inches on Thursday-Friday and the RV roof was dry after the application of sealant in Corning...

Dave's RV Adventure

May 31, 2012 - Lancaster/Bird-in-Hand/Paradise PA

We have visited many interesting places over the last few days. We toured George's Woodcrafts where skilled craftsmen design and build custom furniture. The quality of the work was amazing and the gentleman who took us on a personal tour was obviously proud of the work done there and willing to share with visitors. We visited the National Watch and Clock Museum which included 12,000 treasures of time from sundials to modern marvels. We also saw a demonstration of the Engle monumental clock which had 48 moving pieces(including Jesus,12...

May 24, 2012 - York, PA

On Tuesday John and Cathie (who were on the RV trip with us) rode over from Gettysburg and met up with Terry, Doug, and us to do a little bit of Lancaster. We stopped at a visitor's center and saw a film about the Amish and Mennonite people of this area. We ate lunch at Dienner's Country Restaurant which had wonderful fresh vegetables and desserts. We did a little shopping and then went to see a County Classics music show which featured lots of the country songs that we love. On Wednesday we went for breakfast at an old style diner and went...

Jul 11, 2011 - Hanging In York

7 11 We are making preparations for departure day. We plan on heading out early next Sunday morning. The last 6 weeks are a blur. It will be difficult to capture all we have done, seen, eaten, drank, and felt, while we have been moored in Jack and Sharon’s driveway. Since we returned from our last excursion ‘down the shore’, we have spent much time completing links on our two favorite bike trail systems. The Lebanon Valley Trail, which runs through some pristine Amish country and passes through the eccentric community of Mt Etna, we...

Jun 22, 2011 - 21 Days in June

21 Days of June We are still camped out in Jack and Sharon’s driveway. I may skip around on this entry. But forgive me; we have been pretty busy being retired. The dinners keep getting even more amazing. We are seriously hurting Jack and Sharon’s tasty wine stocks. Which by the way are safely stored in the basement. If we have to go to the basement during a tornado alert, we will be well supplied. We have had two instances where Nancy and Peanut went to the basement. So far, we have taken no direct hits, but there have been two small...

Jun 5, 2011 - 36 Hours

36 Hours We arrived at Jack and Sharon’s at 230 in the afternoon. We had about a two hundred mile trip, finishing with a dash through Harrisburg just before rush hour. The drive from Woodland, Pa, where we stayed at a nice park, was very scenic. We were driving along the southern edge of an area known as the Pennsylvania Wilds. It is about two million acres of dense forests, rivers and lakes. We turned south at Milton and went down US Hwy 15/11 along the scenic Susquehanna River. Along this route we went through many small towns with very...

Sep 26, 2010 - Trip to York, Pa., Knoebels Amusement Park, & York Fair

Hi everyone. We took our side trip to York Pa. on Sept.8th to visit with Leon and family and to pick up Emma and to Charlotte N.C. to visit Jenny. We had a great time by Leons' and the weather was great. We went to the Amusement Park, Knoebels, which is a great place as you only pay for what you want to ride and there is no admission to get in. The prices are reasonable for food and rides. It sure would be nice if the rest of the amusement parks would use this practice as I think that they would get even more business. The boys had a great...

May 15, 2010 - A Great Wedding

It was a great day for a wedding sunny with a nice breeze. The bride looked beautiful and the service was truely a celabration. We had a great time and got to catch up on family. Also got to spend the night with a child hood friend and college roommate. Michael is now the Pastor of a rather large church in Lancaster County. His house overlooks an Amish farm and we had to stop to allow the cows to cross the road. We talked and talked and I am afraid I kept him up way to late as Sunday is really his busiest day of the week. It was great to...
