Sep 28, 2014 - Grand Canyon of PA

The Grand Canyon of PA is located just west of Wellsboro PA, a quaint little town with gas street lamps and lots of history. The Grand Canyon of PA (GCPA) was not exactly what we expected; however, it was worth the drive. We are glad we came up a week early, since you drive 10 miles on a two lane road, that dead ends into the GCPA. We found the fall colors beautiful and know that they would be gorgeous in a week or so when the traffic will be horrific and slow moving. Pine Creek Gorge, sometimes called The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania is a...

Day 30 & 31 - Wellsboro, PA 9/11 & 12/2013 We travelled to Wellsboro today. We had duel gps's today. They couldn't agree on anything. Part of the problem, the new one wanted to keep us off some roads because of weight limitations, the old one didn't know any better. It is crazy trying to figure out which one to listen to! Anyway, we made it to town without incident and parked in a nearby state park. We spent two days with Chris & John. Poor John, every time he tried to BBQ it decided to rain on him. We had a great time going through old...

May 25, 2011 - Grand Canyon of PA

On Tuesday, 5/24, we left CT and headed to PA for a visit to the Grand Canyon of PA. Our first night out was spent in the Walmart in Tunkhannock PA. We took I-84 west to I-81 north and then headed west again on Rt. 6. The roads were in terrible shape. Somewhere along the way, the generator tail pipe came loose from the generator. Fortunately, it stayed connected at another clamp. When we discovered it, the elbow in the pipe had been scraped off just shy of putting a hole in it. Since then, Charlie has managed to repair it and we're back in...

Sep 27, 2008 - Wellsboro, PA

We are settled once again in a small campground just outside of Wellsboro. We made the drive from Honesdale without incident. In fact, it was a pretty relaxing day and the scenery was beautiful. We drove along Route 6 to Scranton where we got on I-81 north. Back in New York we jumped on I-86 west for a great drive across to US 15 which we took south to pick up Route 6 just barely west of Mansfield. It was truly the better choice, rather than driving through all those tiny towns with narrow streets. Before I get started with Wellsboro, let...

Jul 25, 2007 - Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania

7/22-25/07 We arrived at Ives Run Corps of Engineers (COE) park to find a beautiful campground - Oh, if only they could all be so pretty and well-kept! The park is on Hammond Lake just northeast of Wellsboro, PA home to "The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania". We spent a day admiring the view from one of the canyon overlooks and driving through the quaint, picturesque town of Wellsboro. Another day was spent in Corning, NY about 25 miles north of here touring the Corning Museum of Glass, going through the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, and...
