Aug 4, 2018 - Quaker Steak and Lube

Erie was having a jazz and blues fest and we tried to go to it - very popular event - could not find a parking spot anywhere so we drove the waterfront and saw many sail boats in the harbor and sailing on the lake. At the cruise terminal there was a 300’ cargo ship parked. We could not find a parking spot near the museum and just went back to the Eagle. The day was clear blue sky after a real downpour last night. We decided to have dinner at Quaker Steak and Lube and found they started in Sharon, PA that is south just at the Ohio border....

Aug 3, 2018 - Drake Oil Well

This was a great find. We went to the place where the first commercial oil well was drilled and the place where the oil and gas industry started in the US. Oil Creek was known to the Indians because oil seeped into the stream and was skimmed off to be used for medicine and other purposes. There was a lumber company at this location that used the oil for lubricating their equipment but it was several investors who came up with the idea to drill for the oil. 2018 Trip

Aug 2, 2018 - Waterford PA

We arrived yesterday no problems, did buy diesel in Ohio to get better price. Both Indiana and Pennsylvania are very high. We did have an incident where the lights went out and Ray had to reset the breaker on the inverter, we will monitor to see if the problem comes again. Sparrow Pond is a large campground with many pavilions and a large rec hall that can accommodate groups. Also a pool and pond, many seasonal people and we are in the transient area. The WIFI only works in the office, we have to use our own even though the tower is in the...
