Jul 15, 2014 - Little Falls at Promised Land State Park

On this day off, I went back to this state park to continue looking for letterboxes. I didn’t make out too well – didn’t find any of them! But I had a nice walk anyway on both sides of a creek that flowed from a dam at one end of the park. The little falls I found was nice to see, with a bench nearby to rest and contemplate life on! After this walk, I drove around the area and ended up in Honesdale, so I decided to go up to the cliff that overlooks the city. I found out that Washington Irving, author of Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of...

Jun 5, 2010 - Promised Land

We met two of my friends from Boy Scouts, Bruce and Dave, with their families for a camp out at Promised Land State Park. It is a nice park with two lakes that don't allow power boats and a swimming beach. There are also numerous hiking trails and trout streams. Me and Minhee were there last year with Bruce. We kept day 1 a short drive to western PA, then worked on getting the camper organized (two giant boxes crammed with clothes for four along with random pantry items wasn't going to cut it for the trip). We had stayed at this campground a few times on other trips out of New York, so knew it would be a nice one.

Jul 26, 2006 - On to Honesdale, PA

July 19 - We were up and away this morning by 9:00 and pulled onto the dreaded Pennsylvania Turnpike by 9:20. I made sure that I pulled into the correct lane and got by entry ticket this time. I didn't really want to travel by turnpike, but it was the best route to get where we were going. Our destination is to arrive in Honesdale, up in the northeast corner in the Pocono Mountains. Our reservations begin on Friday, but we will probably get there a day early. Didn't know how far we would get today, but know we will not get as far as...

Jul 6, 2005 - DORNEY PARK

Dorney Park was an awesome day, we were taken to an amusement park in Pennsylvania and had the morning to ourselves while other councelors took our kids, then the arvo with the kids. Our group was really lucky that in the morning we all happened to love fast adrenalin type rides so I got to go on all the rollercoasters and drop type rides which was awesome. There was also hardly any wait time at all on the rides and we did nearly all of them at least twice! The first photo is the group of councelors I spent my free time with and this is us...
