Oct 30, 2020 - Ohiopyle

Today my cousin Katie who's wedding is the reason we're up here invited me to a dinner thing after the dress rehearsal. It wasn't until six. I had wanted to see Ohiopyle yesterday, but it had been raining so hard we decided not to. But today it was raining a bit less so off we went. It was only an hour from where we were and where we had to be in the evening. We got there and the falls were absolutely gushing with nasty brown water from all the recent rain. Definitely not like I remembered, but still cool nonetheless. - Maybe now I should...

Sep 16, 2013 - Updates: Miles 74-78

Updates on October 27, 2014: What better way was there to enjoy an unseasonably warm October day than to ride a few miles of the Great Allegheny Passage going west from Ohiopyle State Park? Because there were fewer leaves still on the trees than when we usually ride during the summer, we saw more of the Youghigheny River and some impressive rocks that we had not seen before. The photos were taken mostly in the 4-mile section from Miles 74-78.

May 7, 2010 - Laurel Highlands, PA

First thing in the morning, everyone heads to Lake Josh. Tom caught some Sunnies last evening and John catches some this morning. Did I say Sunny? They are Amazon River Giant Bill Sunnies. The fish will get bigger as the trip gets longer. Today we explore PA 381. Our first stop is the Falls Mart in Ohiopyle for breakfast. Next, we try to get an early tour of Falling Water. The morning tours are all reserved for school trips. We decide on the self-guided grounds tour instead of coming back in the afternoon. It is fine. The house and its...

Jun 14, 2006 - Ohiopyle, Youghiogehney Falls

We went for a nice drive today, down to Ohiopyle, about 45 miles south. Don't they have the most interesting names around here? It was a very scenic drive, lots of forests and some farmland. We passed through a town called "Normalville". I guess they're just normal here. The Youghiogehney River (try saying that fast 3 times), with it's tumbing falls, runs through Ohiopyle State Park. It was not quite hot enough weather for us to give it a try, but there was a rafting vendor along the river that will take you on a white water raft tour...
