This particular stop was planned for a couple of months as a surprise for friends of ours from Baconton that have moved back to Pennsylvania. Heidi and Jason Watkins lived in Baconton for several years then moved back up to PA. Their youngest daughter, Karaliah, was graduating from high school on Saturday, June 3rd. A mutual friend from Baconton, Margaret, had told us about the graduation and she was driving up (with a couple of other friends). Tim and I decided to show up as a surprise. Aug 24, 2014 - ALS Challenge and Flowerbeds

Over the next couple of weeks, PA Dutch Country will be cleaning up hiking trails and flower beds. Today the effort on the flower beds started, still a lot of work to do. There also was an ALS challenge, I (Michael) participated for our granddaughter Brooke who did the challenge earlier this month. The water was definitely cold, but it was fun and a great charity to help.

Aug 23, 2014 - Track & Field Weekend at PA Dutch Country

Well the summer is winding down, labor day is next weekend, go figure. This weekend's theme was track and field as well a clean up day. We have many campers volunteer to clean up the hiking trails which had not been touched in quite a while and. They did an outstanding job and were rewarded with a BBQ once they were done. some of the kids, including Stacy and Reggi were involved in the track & field, one of the boys won three of the events. The day was finished off by another great meal prepared by Earl, PA Dutch's chef. Pork and Sauerkraut.

Aug 16, 2014 - Pirates Weekend at PA Dutch Country

Pirates weekend was a great success because of Reggi's efforts. The yard sale was well attended, Pete brought his parrot for other to see and experience. Two little boys dressed up as pirates, they were very cute. The Lost Black Beard's Treasure hunt was a success, the little kids went first followed by the older kids, as you can see there were a lot of participants. The Walk the Plank Wagon Ride was well attended as well.

Aug 9, 2014 - Yea Haw Weekend

this weekend has a Yea Haw theme (was suppose to be Red Neck; however, corporate said to ). Reggi planned a lot of activities - Tie Dye Shirt contest, Kids hollering and duck call contest, corn shucking, seed spitting, and tug-a-war. There was also mud time after the tug-a-war. Two boys found the sack the corn came in and did an impromptu sack race. the Hee Haw Hay ride was a great success as was the Pulled Pork dinner. The Kids told Reggi how much they liked all of her activities, telling her they loved her..... that really made her day.

Aug 2, 2014 - Race Car Weekend at PA Dutch Country

August and September are two busy months at PA Dutch Country (PAD). The PA Renaissance Faire, which is located less than a mile away, is in full swing for the next two months. One of the participants was walking around PAD Saturday. The hardcore participants really get into the dress, speech and mannerisms of that era. The weekend theme was race cars, Reggi organized a shirt contest, had some very nice t-shirts. Jul 26, 2014 - Christmas In July at PA Dutch Country

The last weekend of July is "Christmas in July" weekend at PA Dutch Country. Reggi decorated the trading post as well as the hall where Christmas dinner will be served. Some of the sites were decorated as well. Mike got into the day by wearing a festive red & white shirt and a "I believe in Santa" hat. Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and one of their elf helpers came to visit the kids - small and big. Jul 19, 2014 - Tropical Weekend at PA Dutch Country

This weekends theme was a Tropical Island experience. Reggi decorated the trading post, the pool area. There were a lot of activities - a hulla-hoop, a limbo contest, a Hulla and Tropical shirt contests. We had a luau with frozen non-alcoholic drinks.

Jul 13, 2014 - Stacy's Appreciation Dinner

Stacy, the PA Dutch Country manager took all of her employees to Rino's an Italian restaurant between our RV park and Manheim. We had some very good food, good company and lots of fun. When Reggi sat down in her chair she fell to the ground, it turn out the back of the chair was broken.

Jul 12, 2014 - Water Fun Weekend at PA Dutch Country

The Theme this weekend was Water Fun. Reggi organized several contests - water ballon toss, water gun fight, slip-n-slide, pool games and much more. Earl the Park resident chef cooked meat loaf for dinner, it was scrumptious. Everyone said they had a ball and lots of fun.

Jun 28, 2014 - Ladder Ball, Pool and Mike

This weekend theme was Fire Pit - a big bonfire on Saturday night, one of the games played was Ladder Ball, Mike had to work, the pool was filled with swimmers and sun bathers. Bernie our head maintenance man was working at grinding down stumps and some even enjoyed a game of miniature golf.

Jun 21, 2014 - Space Weekend at PA Dutch Country

This was Space Weekend at PA Dutch Country. Mike, because of his Air Force experience working with NASA on the Saturn V, Space Shuttle and Viking Lander programs, was asked to give a talk on the "Race to the Moon". He spent the previous morning building the rockets that were used during our getting to the Moon. - Mercury, Gemini, Saturn 1B and Saturn V. The talk was well received. There was a "Moon Walk" contest, won by the young man in the yellow green tee-shirt. A "Tin Foil Hat" Contest - Tin Foil Hats were most popular during the 70s and...
