Jan 1, 2013 - First night on the road

405 Miles today. The only hurry is to get out of the snow belt of the north. We are staying at Lickdale Campground tonight which is just off Rte 81. Very quiet here considering that it is only 1000 feet off the exit ramp. $28.00 per night with 30 amp service, water, sewer and cable. We are camped next to a couple from Merideth, NH who are heading to Winter Haven, FL. It was a very busy day today. Rough roads in PA! By tomorrow, we should be in milder weather. (we hope!) Happy New Year to all and to all a good night!

Trek Wanderings

Sep 26, 2010 - Sunday Lickdale, PA

We left Bennington, Vermont and had a nice country drive with more small towns and fall scenery until we reached the big city. The stretch of highways through Albany was difficult. We missed one high speed interstate turn but made correction without too much delay. Getting through the toll gate was a bit hectic. We took the toll ticket and a few miles down the road we turned onto Interstate 88. To our surprise, the toll taker took the ticket and said “no toll”. The remainder of the trip was on interstates. We took a long break at Cracker...

The Trip of 2010

Aug 8, 2010 - Heading South

We dropped the kids at the airport and headed south, making it mostly through Pennsylvania before stopping. Our plans have changed a little, so we are heading back to Florida sooner than expected. More news on that later, but the next few entries are pretty much just to make the mark on the map. We did find out that while we can make more miles than we usually have, it isn't nearly as much fun.

Oct 27, 2009 - Snowbirds

We are officially snowbirds! After 19 years of motorhoming and 7+ years of counting down, today we flew the coop in search of warm weather. We left home at 8 AM and arrived at our campground in Lickdale Pa. at 3:45 PM.(390 miles) It rained most of the way so the Big Guy was quite relieved he didn't wash the coach and jeep before we left. We are headed to Milton, West Virginia tomorrow and Mammoth Cave National Park on Thursday, where we will spend a few days exploring the cave and the area.

Aug 4, 2008 - LIckdale, PA KOA

Our revised route back south from Deer Run avoided both the nasty bridge and most of the I-81 traffic in NY and around Scranton, PA. This was a go hard and long day, although the first 60 miles of our route were smaller roads and slower. Still, we covered 300 miles and stopped in PA. This park used to be a KOA and dropped it's affiliation. All the employees we saw were teenagers, they had run out of park maps so they had to lead us to our site (really small park, so this is unusual). They were nice enough but ditzy. It was nice to stop...

Nov 19, 2007 - To Lickdale, PA

Trip to Lickdale was long but finally made it. While on I-84 in CT about 10 miles from NY a truck in front of me lost plywood and Styrofoam that went flying up at me, well it was a good test for the ABS system. The only thing that I hit was a piece of the foam. Later in PA there were snow fluries and it appears they had several inches the day before. Lickdale had a little snow but it rained at night.
