Our campground, Waterside RV Park, is in Lewistown, PA. and is situated between the Juniata River and the old Pennsylvania Canal that ran between Pittsburg and Philadelphia. Lewistown is another very old town dating to the 1700s. It was once a thriving area but in the last years it has been overtaken by nearby State College as the center of commerce. We have spent some time with Marvin’s cousin (in-law) and his wife who live in McVeytown, and visited a few other relatives scattered through the area. They all seem to love living in this area...

Jun 9, 2013 - Philly, Gettvsburg and More Drives on Country Roads

The Wi-Fi here is very slow. I was finally able to upload photos but couldn't get them in the proper order. Philadelphia Sunday we took a trip through history. We decided to go into Philadelphia, Marvin hadn’t been there since he was a child and I never had. We set Gertie (car GPS) for the shortest route and she took us on quite a journey through the farm roads and many small old, old towns that looked perfectly preserved. Jun 11, 2011 - Lewistown, PA

Sat, 11 Jun: A very easy 113 mile journey from Tom Schaeffer's RV in Shoemakersville to Lewistown. Our route included US 61, I 78, I 81, US 22/US 322 to US 22BR. Weather was quite nice after overnite thunderstorms that dumped considerable rain and kept us awake with frequent thunder. But, by the time we were ready to leave it had stopped raining and we even got some sunshine as we proceeded west. The slide behaved itself throughout the drive with no evidence of creeping.
