After visiting Kevin while he was controlling traffic flow over the Roebling Bridge while workers were replacing the roofing on the tollhouse, then accompanying Jamie while she was spraying some of the invasive plants at the Lackawaxen access, then checking out a campground at the southern end of Lake Wallenpaupack, I ended up at the Lackawac Sanctuary. Jul 29, 2014 - Varden Conservation Area

This is a donated parcel of land with a few trails and many letterboxes. I found 9 out of 10 here and one more for good luck that someone planted as a thank you to the one who planted those 10 letterboxes. These were all handmade replicas of Whispering Giant sculptures created by Peter Wolf Toth from large trees and placed all over the U.S. I should have seen one in Paducah, KY, but now seeing these is on my list of places to go and things to see! The Area is divided into two areas, and the hiking I needed to do was 2 miles on each loop....
