Oct 26, 2012 - Last day in Kinzers
ROAMERS RETREAT CAMPGROUND-KINZERS, PA. FRIDAY. Cloudy skies greeted us this morning, with mild temperatures and no rain. Edie and I went shopping at the Kettle Country Village in Intercourse. I bought a couple items and Edie picked up some things too. It's a neat place with all kinds of little shops, including various local foods. We were due at cousin Irene Martin's house for lunch. Two of her sisters, Jeannette and Naomi, with husband Harold Byers joined us. Amos Martin rounded out the gathering. The food was outstanding and...

Oct 25, 2012 - The story of Jonah
ROAMER'S RETREAT CAMPGROUND-KINZERS,PA. THURSDAY This morning was spent doing chores around the house. Edie ran the big sweeper and I used the cannister to clean the areas in front of the pilot and co-pilot seats. Our plan is to attend the 4:15 performance of Jonah at the Sight and Sound theater. Pearl and Mel came by to pick us up about 2 to go shopping with them at a small meat market...Not sure where we were. They also had cheese there. We ended up buying a hunk of sharp cheese after sampling it. We went to the theater about 3. We were...

Oct 24, 2012 - Cousins by the dozens.
ROAMERS'S RETREAT CAMPGROUND-KINZERS,PA. WEDNESDAY The first chore after breakfast this morning was to do the journal. The network was working pretty good and that got done. Next it was wash the windshield and front panel on the coach. Upon completing that it was break time. The years have taken their toll on this old body. A cup of coffee and a little rest got me back on my feet and it was time to dump the waste tanks. Took care of that. Checked the propane level and we are still good for a day or two at least. Temps have moderated at...

ROAMER'S RETREAT CAMPGROUND-KINZERS,PA TUESDAY Cloudy skies greeted us this morning. A little light rain occasionally. First thing on my agenda is breakfast, while Edie has some coffee. After breakfast I tackle the journal. Once again am having throughput problems with the internet. AOL software keeps hangind up....I'm in Cyberspace bouncing around. We wanted to share some pictures and comments about Edie's youngest grandson, John Jenkins, graduating from US Air Force basic training last weekend. He took top honors in his flight and is...

Oct 21, 2012 - Two days in PA
ROAMER'S RETREAT CAMPGROUND-KINZERS, PA SUNDAY This is a day to recoup. We slept in this morning. Got up to a bright sunny day, cool temperatures. We both filled our pill boxes for the week and I had to call in some RX's. Started a grocery list and a few other chores. In the afternoon Edie went to the laundry here in the camp to cycle our duds. While she was there I got the printer out and hooked it up to the computer. It had not been used for a long time, and the cartridges were dried up. After fiddling with it for a while I went to the...

Oct 20, 2012 - Back Home Again......in Pennsylvania.
ROAMERS RETREAT CAMPGROUND..KINZERS, PA. SATURDAY Awoke to beautiful scenery outside our house, and some light rain hitting the roof. Didn't take long to break camp...the toad already hooked on (as in towed vehicle), so we were up on I80 East and rolling by 0915. Close to 300 miles to do today. As we progressed on 80, through the Allegheney Mountains, we were treated to a lovely display of nature's handiwork with fall colors in the trees. Tried to get some pictures, but tough to capture thru dirty windows and moving at 65. Edie caught a...

Hello Friends! We are on the road after a nice summer break in PA. It was so good to visit the kids, family and friends. We will miss you all very much, so come with us now as we travel. The first two pictures are of our campsite at Roamers' in PA. The next set is our travel to Aydlett, NC. We crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and tunnels. I have overcome my fear of bridges and tunnels. It was a very scenic ride. Fondly, Steve and Nancy

Jun 19, 2009 - Around Cooperstown
Around Cooperstown Nothing much happening today. We went into Cooperstown and looked over the shops with Stephen being the only one making any purchases. He picked up a commemorative bat for a friend and five large packs of baseball cards for himself. Later in the afternoon, we went out to Dreams Park where the tournament will be held after being instructed we had to register Stephen. After being caught in a massive traffic jam, we learned he did not have to register today and this will be taken care of by his parents on 6/20. After taking...

Jun 17, 2009 - Lancaster County PA Amish Country
Nothing was formally planned for today so after a leisurely breakfast and two loads of laundry we drove over to the nearest Walmart dropping off a prescription for filling. We decided to drive several back roads through Amish farmland, traveling to Intercourse, PA and stopping at Bird in Hand, PA where we arranged for Stephen and Samantha to take a buggy ride. Due to their age, an adult had to accompany them them and I drew the short straw. The ride covered approximately two miles and included a trip through an Amish dairy farm. The buggy...

Jun 16, 2009 - Philadelphia and Valley Forge
Yesterday was a travel day which took us through Washington, DC, Maryland and into Pennsylvania. We arrived in Kinzers, PA at approximately 2:00 after traveling approximately 280 miles. The RVP is located in the Pennsylvania Dutch country and yesterday afternoon we observed the Amish farmers cultivating recently planted row crops, cutting alfalfa for hay and tilling new land for planting. Both Samantha and Stephen found this way of life interesting with the farming activities all being completed with animal horsepower. The weather has...

Boy! We bet that title got your attention, but it is not what you think. We are now in Amish Country in Pennsylvania. We are staying in Kinzers, Pa. at Roamer’s Retreat Campground. On Sunday we left Conn. and headed toward Penn. We took I-95 south through New York in bumper to bumper traffic, and then we took I-78 west through New Jersey, still in heavy traffic. Our destination for the night was Cabela’s in Hamburg, Pa. We arrived at about 4 o’clock and went to their special RV parking area to spend the night. All of the Cabela’s are very...
