Leaving Rochester, we headed for the another of Duane’s childhood hangouts – Kane, PA. Kane is in north-central PA, not far from the NY border. Duane’s parents both grew up in Kane and he has happy memories of playing with cousins in that area. Today, Kane is a town similar to others along the NY-PA border – very little available employment and losing population with each census. It borders the Allegheny National Forest and the surrounding areas are beautiful. Our campground, on the Allegheny Reservoir, was beautiful and very comfortable....

Day 177 Monday 6th October Mount Jewette PA pg 86 WF10 This morning our routine was a little different from the usual – Steve and I decided to both have our hair cut at Uncle Wally’s – yes I guess it was a little brave. Steve had a straight cut and I decided to have a colour put in so as not to look like the original “ol’ grey bear”, this beautification took some time to happen, as it usually does, but not to worry Steve was occupied back in the RV.
