What to do today? Visit an Amish Farm, an Amish Farmers Market, An Amish furniture store, an Amish craft market, visit an Amish town set up to sell their goods, or just take a ride through the Amish countryside? We headed into the town of Bird-in-Hand to visit the Farmers Market. It was a large two story building. First floor was bake good, deli meats, café and vegetable stands. Second floor and some of the first floor was all crafts. I would say 70% crafts and 30% farmers market. We bought some wonderful tomatoes and other vegetables. Next...

Jun 23, 2016 - Maryland to Pennsylvania

Woke up to heavy rain about 6:00 but it blew over quickly & was gone by 9:00 so we started packing up & were leaving Cosca Regional Park before 10:00. What was supposed to be a 3-hr drive turned into a 4-hr drive when there was an accident on our freeway around Baltimore. We made it safely thru the stop & go traffic & were soon in the country & into Pennsylvania - another new state. We're now set for 12 nites at Beacon Hill Camping in Intercourse, PA. Our back window looks out on the fields of Sam's Farm (that's what the park map says) & we...

Jun 3, 2016 - Beacon Hill Campgrounds, Intercourse, PA

1st time here. We arrived here on May 29,2016 and stayed a full week leaving on June 5th. Personally, I think this has been the best time camping so far. We camped with Tom & Diane Pridmore and we had a lot of fun. The campsite was great! Although there was no pool, store, or things like that, it was clean, quiet, plenty of trees, and in the middle of Amish country just outside Bird In Hand, PA. Bathrooms and showers spotless. We were on site 4 and directly across from the bathroom and showers, which was really nice. While we were here we...

May 31, 2016 - Pennsylvania Amish Country

After 7 days in DC metro area, we were on the road today to Pennsylvania Amish country. The rolling hills and farms visible, in all directions provides a nice backdrop for our stop today. We took a short drive through the surrounding area and noted a lot of Amish buggies on the road. Since the men are in the field working with horse drawn plows, cutters, and other tools, most of the buggies were filled with women and children. Driving through Intercourse, we saw several Amish women mowing their yards with power mowers. We also saw several...

We woke up to 34 degrees this morning outside it was the coldest morning so far, when we got in the truck to leave there was ice on the windshield. We just went driving in search of yard sales, we only found about a half dozen but we did find some buys. We stopped for lunch at McDonalds around noon, and worked our way back to camper, on the way we saw a roadside stand and they were picking stuff out of the fields and bringing them up, doesn't get much fresher than that, we bought broccoli $1 head, cauliflower $1.50, large yellow and red...

For some reason I can't sleep in anymore, I was up at 5:30 a.m. and Buddy went back to sleep and most of you know I am not a morning person, we had another cold front come in it was 40 degrees outside when I got up. We drove to The Green Dragon Flea Market which use to be a real good flea market, we were disappointed as it was all new stuff, of course there was country crafts, vegetables and meats but it was all expensive, we did grab some breakfast which wasn't even that good. I wanted to go to downtown Lancaster and check out the Central...

The night before last we had the heater going and last night we had the fan going and it was a very windy night, we thought at one time we were going to have to put the slide outs in since they have awnings of them and we were afraid they would tear, but we made it and it turned out to be a beautiful day today with temperature getting up in the 60's. We had breakfast in, Buddy made himself French toast with homemade bread and he made sausage, I only had sausage since I wasn't very hungry. We drove over to Litiz, PA and toured the Julius...

Our 2015 Fall Trip

Oct 27, 2015 - Intercourse, PA

Today we went to Manheim, PA to the Roots Flea Market, it was mostly antiques but we bought some books and they had lots and lots of vegetables so we stocked up on fresh green beans, spagetti squash, tomatoes and cabbage, also bought some whoopie pies, those things are going to be my downfall, they also had meat markets which had amazing looking meats and cheeses, however as we weren't sure how long before we got home we could not buy any. We stopped for lunch at a pizza/sandwich shop then headed back to the RV and I did laundry, Buddy did...

First thing this morning around 6:00a.m. we were awakened with the rooster crowing across the road at the amish farm, neither one of us thought the other was awake but both wanted to laugh when we heard it, it went on and on. We started the day at a Chevy dealer to get the oil changed in the truck, then off exploring some shops and we had lunch at a place called Alice's Diner one of the technicians recommended, Buddy had a cheesesteak quesadilla and I had a greek salad he said his was good mine was kind of bland.
