Jun 6, 2019 - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Today, we travel the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It is another three hour move. In Southwest Missouri, we decided to take the Interstate home. We both want to spend the summer at home. We do not regret the Interstate decision but our travel days have been too long. Three hour moves are too long for us. I am sure it will seem worthwhile once we are home. Other than that, there is little to report. We are in travel mode.

Apr 4, 2019 - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

It is a leisurely start to the day. We do not expect to hear from our auto repair shop until late morning. After breakfast, we take a walk around the campground. We expect to be sitting a lot later. I take some campground pictures and we talk with our neighbors. To be continued . . . It’s a long day. Our parts arrive and we take the RV in at 1:00. It is after 7:00 when we get back to the campground. Our mechanic is very good. He works on high end cars. He treats our RV like it is one of his Mercedes. He makes sure everything is...

Apr 3, 2019 - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

After a good night’s sleep it is time to track down our check engine light problem. We call two Dodge dealerships and Camping World. They don’t work on RV’s. We head to Advance Auto to get the computer code read. We are running “lean.” This could mean several things but it definitely involves the exhaust. She sends us up the street to an auto repair that specializes in Dodges. This guy is good. He checks everything out and explains what he believes the problem is. It all makes sense. We need to replace the two ozone sensors first then the...

Part 3: We have one other bump in the road on our first day. After lunch, the old “check engine” light comes on. All the gauges are good and we are in range of the campground so we continue on. We check things out at the campground. Our exhaust is Very Hot. We are 95% sure this is our problem. We will get it checked out tomorrow before continuing on. Right now, we are safely in a campground East of Harrisburg. We like it here and we will regroup after a good night’s sleep.

Little to report as we head home. This will be our last night on the road. We travel the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It is our favorite route across the mountains. The route is familiar to us. It is scenic. We go through the four tunnels. We cross familiar rivers. All goes well. We will be home tomorrow.

Jun 15, 2018 - Harrisburg, PA

15-Jun-18 Harrisburg, PA The 200 mile trip from Charleroi, PA to Harrisburg, PA was mostly uneventful. The major exception are the roads in Pennsylvania. We payed $3.79/ gallon for diesel. The high price of gas, I assume, is due to taxes. But the roads are in need of repair. Also the designs of the on ramps of the interstates are dangerously short. We are staying at the Harrisburg East Campground for three nights and visiting with Cherie’s cousin Jan and Bob. They drove up from Maryland and are staying in a hotel nearby. After setting up...

May 23, 2018 - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

We are on the road again. We originally planned on leaving after Memorial Day. We decided to leave early and spend Memorial Day Weekend in Ohio with my cousin. John starts the day with a doctor’s appointment. He gets an A+++. His weight is again down and his bloodwork is perfect. We are good to go. We take our time making last minute preparations, hooking up the trailer and talking with our tenant and neighbors. We are on the road by 11:00. Circling Philadelphia is my least favorite part of the trip. The roads are terrible and there is...

Aug 1, 2017 - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

We cross the Allegheny Mountains. Fortunately, Route 76 has well-spaced rest areas. Between stops, the RV is running great. However . . . We make it to the east side of Harrisburg. The campground is nice but for us it is just a chance to recharge our batteries. We consider taking two days to get home. Unfortunately, campgrounds are not where we want them to be. We will probably make the push for home. It will be another long day.

Jul 11, 2017 - Visit Hershey Chocolate World

We left Danbury around 10 and stopped for lunch and gas in Milford, PA. The Kroger here is called Turkey Hill. We arrived in Harrisburg around 5:00. We checked in and then drove to Hershey Chocolate World. We took the tour which is a ride through an animated history of how Hershey's chocolate is made currently and how it started out. It was a fun ride. We then shopped in their huge gift/candy shop. We went to Wendy's for dinner and then to Friendly's for ice cream. yum! 8 1/2 more drive time to go. Next stop Wheeling, WV.
