Jun 18, 2018 - Promised Land park

Continuing on to Maine, we stayed on interstates until we got off near green town and found the Promised land! This area was a Shaker settlement back in the 1800's and they abandoned it after they found it too rocky to farm. Sarcastically they named it the PL. The cg was nice and a big rainstorm cleared the area of heat.A small bear crossed the cg about 30 yds from us but didn't return.

Sep 30, 2016 - Pennsylvania State Park

We did some State jumping today. From Massachusetts to NY, Connecticut, ,now to Pennsylvania. We will be heading down towards Knottsville, and Nashville, Tenn. We decided to not do NY, and Washington, maybe we will go back as a destination holiday. We had light rain most the day, so it was good we were driving the miles. We found a State Park called Promised Land which after we found it realized it was too far off the Hwy, and ended up being dark by the time we arrived. Will see in the morning what we are waking up to. Relaxing now, and...

Jun 29, 2013 - We've been awfully good!

Saturday, June 29, 2013 Greentown, PA Well, we must have been a lot better than we thought we were because we ended up in Paradise and, shortly thereafter, found ourselves in the Promised Land!! OK,OK…. so it was Paradise, PA and the Promised Land State Park but it sounds good, doesn’t it? We had an uneventful trip up from our VA campground, much of which was on I-81. But, we are taking the opportunity to “car shop” as we tool down the road. By the time we get home and actually go car buying, we may just have a handle on the one we...

Jul 28, 2011 - One Fuse, Two Fuse, Red Fuse, Blue Fuse... Did We Pack the Yellow Fuses?

Interstate 84, Rest Area Site #62 Greentown / Promised Land, PA Phone's dead. Mirrors kaput. Lights, gone. Internet, lost. Computer crashed. GPS? Fuggetaboutit!! Welcome to the Promised Land! So we were cruisin' along with the humans happily amusing themselves with all their technogadgets, which are all plugged in to the same outlet. I love my humans, they are SOOOO smart! They did pack the yellow fuses! And they know right where the fuse box is located, so it's changed in under two minutes! They are truly geniuses! I can get a fast busy...

Oct 17, 2010 - The Poconos

So we left Littleton, MA, on a Sunday morning, thinking "Well, everyone will be in church as we drive through Connecticut." Ha! Fat chance of that! The traffic was terrible on Interstate 84, with people flying around us and switching lanes at random. I was so glad to make it to the New York border, where at least, when I looked in the rear view mirrors I could see a little pavement, between approaching cars and trucks. Talk about a stressful drive....does no one in MA or CT understand the dangers in tailgating?? Finally, we made it to the...

Driving Miss Daisy

Nov 2, 2008 - Greentown, PA

After the Army/Air Force game, we drove to Promised Land State Park in Greentown, PA … the same place that we had stayed in August on our way from near Boston, MA to Marion, OH. We were shocked to see the damage to the area trees and disappointed to find the park’s campground closed due to significant damage. Fortunately, the Ms. Ranger felt sorry for us and let us stay in the office parking lot … no hookups but a safe, comfortable overnight spot.

Aug 11, 2008 - Greentown, PA

On Friday, we drove from Foxboro, MA to Greentown, PA. On Saturday, we went for a very long run (partly trying to find our way back to the campground) on the trails through the park. On Sunday, when we returned to the park from our trip to get some local pizza, our water hose and electric cord were missing from our campsite. After having safely left them at campsites all over the country for more than a year, we found them at the “concerned” camp host … a little sketchy, but in the end, we got our stuff back.

Aug 23, 2007 - Patapsco Valley State Park, Ellicott City, MD

8/14/07 - 8/23/07 (Tuesday to Thursday) After saying our good-byes to everyone, we headed back across the Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick. There is no charge to cross onto P.E.I., but it cost $54.25 to make the return trip. Ouch! We returned to My Brother's Place, the same campground we used on the way to P.E.I. We found the Nichols and the Whitakers there as well. After dinner we drove into town for some ice cream sundaes. Wednesday morning Drew & I headed for northern Maine to see not only the countryside but hopefully some moose...
