Aug 13, 2016 - Planning for Fall Trip West 2016

Hopefully August 30 will be departure date for a 6 or 7 week trip across US to California. We will be stopping in many National Parks and visiting some of Indiana's Covered Bridges. Traveling will be in same minivan with the bed in back we used last year for Alaska Trip. It worked right well as we stayed in Motels part of the time and camped where motels were priced high or were not available. Looking forward to seeing the beautiful country we live in and take in the sights of NPs such as Yellowstone, Yosemite and the 5 NP in Utah.

Trip West 2016

Sep 19, 2015 - Home

It has been 7 weeks this morning since we left home on this adventure and an adventure it has been. I have always believed there is beauty everywhere and while that is true when I walked around the yard this morning and looked at what's left of a very weedy garden I'm thankful the beauty I see here is where I live. We traveled 15 states, 3 provinces of Canada; 13,442 miles plus 3 days on Alaskan Ferry. We had no flat tires, no broken windshields but lots of dirt from the Alcan Highway. We saw poor people who lived in shanty's, people who...

Jun 27, 2015 - Travel Buggy

This is our means of transportation. Hopefully our old bodies, 72 and 68, will be able to handle all the squeezing that will be required to live and sleep inside this vehicle. We wanted something small for handling purposes, something fairly good on fuel mileage, so this is what we came up with. We are not planning on much cooking, only when necessary. I will try to keep it updated with locations and pictures as we go along. Our biggest concern is safety on the highways!

Jul 23, 2013 - Ruffed Grouse State

Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, May your future be, filled with honor everlasting as your history. Would you believe, Pennsylvania at 3:38 pm? Entered Harrisburg at rush hour. Slow going for a while but at least we were moving. Fuel prices are going up the further North we go! Stopped for fuel and had to go two miles down a huge winding mountain...used most of the fuel going back up to get back on interstate! LOL! Always construction in PA but overall roads were 100% better than I remember. Oops spoke too soon...really bad now. Been backed up...

Road Trip 2013

Apr 2, 2012 - can't seem to get out of town!

We're still here! The electric tongue jack (which hooks the trailer and the truck together so that they can travel together) locked up its motor, and we need a new one, which of course they don't have in stock, but will have by 8:30 tomorrow morning. And the trailer battery, which we've been suspicious of all along, is totally finished. Who knew that they don't like sitting outside on the trailer all winter long, and will die if you leave them there? So a new battery (user error, not covered by warranty) and new motor for tongue jack should...

Apr 1, 2012 - first day of travel

SO. . . we made it all the way to Greencastle! Note to self -- check that all trailer systems are operational before arriving on a Sunday morning to depart. Otherwise you have to wait until Monday morning, and change all the campground reservations you have made. Every day something new!

Jun 28, 2011 - Keystone RV Center

Stopped here in Greencastle,Pa this dealer has a RV park where we could leave the coach so Rob could visit his new Dr. in Bethesda, Md. We drove the car down to Dr office then out to lunch with Elizabeth's neighbor Claire then did a little work on her house before going to dinner with Rob's daughters and grand daughters then spent the night with some of his family in Hyattsville. The Dr said Rob is doing fine and she would like to see him again in 3 months. Good News.

Aug 19, 2010 - Kansas to Pennsylvania

Since leaving Kansas Monday morning (11/16) we had two days of travel before stopping for a couple days in Lexington, KY. We stayed at the Kentucky Horse Park Campground to take a days break before finishing our trip back to New Hampshire. This morning we left Lexington and headed east on I-64. At the same time, Dave and Jackie departed us and took I-75 south heading back home to Florida. Today we drove through the States of Kentucky, West Virginia and Maryland. We stopped for the night just over the Maryland/Pennsylvania border on...
