Aug 3, 2012 - Erie, not eerie.
Lewis and Clark have made the first stop in their adventure. After logging 600 miles of rolling New England hills; including a delicious stop in Buffalo for the original wings, we have taken our first refuge. We plan on a quality night sleep before heading to the Rock and Roll of Fame in Cleveland Ohio.

Jul 24, 2012 - Waterford, PA
We left Milan, Ohio the morning of July 24th and drove 160 miles to Sparrow Pond Family RV Park in Waterford, PA. The park is located about 10 miles south of Erie, PA. We had planned to stay here only two nights but because of some horrendous thunderstoms the day we were supposed to leave we decided to stay one more night. We toured the city of Erie and found it to be a very nice place but evidently that wasn't always the case, especially along its waterfront. The waterfront used to be heavily industrialized. In the early 80s most of the...

Jul 9, 2012 - Tire O'Tire Where are You?
It's Monday morning and everyone has gone back to work and we have a job to do too, find a replacement tire. How hard can that be, hmmmm! After visiting 8 tire stores we finally came up with a solution to our tire problem. After a nice calming lunch, we headed back to the campground. George fixed our fender, while Lisa did some wash. As evening approached, we decided we needed to have some fun, so we went to Pasque Isle Downs & Casino. There wasn't any horse racing on Mondays, but there were plenty of slot machines and roulette tables. We...

Jul 8, 2012 - Presque Isle State Park
What a beautiful day! We traveled over to Presque Isle State Park to explore Lake Erie. What an amazing place! This will be on our list for a returned visit and we'd highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys biking, boating, hiking, kayaking and beaching. This is a place to visit! We drove around the 13.5 mile peninsula and viewed 11 beaches, though every nook had a sandy beach. We saw numerous trails that are flat and well shaded. Anxious to get on the water of Lake Erie, we took a 90 minute boat tour, to view the isle from the water. After...

Jul 7, 2012 - Ugh! Flat tire
We are so loving our air-conditioners as we woke to a hot, muggy morning. We were moving a little slow today, but got packed up and were on the road by 10:30, heading across Pennsyvania on I-80 towards Erie, PA. This was our first long traveling day. Things started out well, until George said, "Oh no!!" We were about an hour into our trip watching the temperture rise to the high 90s, when pop, a tire on the camper blew. George pulled over to the side of the road, while Lisa called Road Assistance. Yes, this is why you buy those plans. We...

Jun 3, 2012 - Sara's Campground, Erie, PA
We decided to drive onto Erie, we got past Arkon and Cleveland with very little traffic even though we found a lot of road construction. It was a nice drive, lots of wonderful scenery. We found Sara's Campground, a nice RV park that has one part right on Lake Erie and the other (where we are staying) across the road from Lake Erie. We had to stay across the road since they do not allow dogs in lake side campground. We are glad we didn't stay they, the roller coaster at the amusement park butts up against Sara's, very noisy. Much quieter...

May 15, 2012 - Depart pour Erie, Pensylvanie

Sep 22, 2011 - OTRA - PA - Erie
09/22/11 Well, this morning was rather interesting. We were getting ourselves ready to leave here, not in any big rush (good thing for that, too!), and as Bob was pulling the truck forward to move into position to hook up, Sharon (a camping friend) and I heard this clunk-clunk sound. I thought maybe it was something in the bed of the truck so Bob backed up a little, no sound, then forward again…clunk, clunk a lot! Ohmigosh, the drive train or something (thought I) and then Joe, campground owner who was at a trailer several lots up the line...

Sep 18, 2011 - Day 20
Our sightseeing today started at Presque-Isle State Park to view a couple of lighthouses that protect(ed) Erie Harbor. As we entered the park, we discovered that today was also the day they were running the Erie Marathon and Celiac Walk along the park roadways. They were only using the left lane of two-lane one-way roads, so it did not create a problem. Once inside the park, we found a monument park to Oliver Hazard Perry. History buffs will remember him as defeating the British in the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812. He also had a...

A travel day today from Mt Eaton, OH to Erie, PA. Staying at the Presque-Isle Passage Campground. We traveled through Canton (Home of the Football Hall of Fame), Akron and Cleveland. Hope to go see a couple of lighthouses in the area tomorrow and maybe the Maritime Museum. Great day, sunny, started out cool enough for a sweatshirt, but ended up a T-shirt afternoon.

Aug 25, 2011 - RV's for everyone
We only get up early when travel demands it and this was one of those days. Our friends were waiting in their driveway when we pulled up at 7:30am. It was a long driving day for Ken, and Charlie and Polly enjoyed watching the world go by from a unique perspective. As the lunch time rest area neared, we prepared the meal as the rig bounced down the highway. I saw a look of terror in their eyes similar to the looks I saw on TV from the folks that were in the Virginia earthquake a few days ago. Otherwise the day was uneventful, which is the...

Jul 29, 2011 - To the doctors with Brooke and a Yeungling beer run
It was a long travel day from Indiana Dunes to Erie. Brooke's fever was scary last night, she woke up hallucinating with a temp of 103+. At midnight she asked if she could go "over there", then she passed out. She woke again, eyes wide open pointing directly at the couch saying "I want to go over there with Ava in the pool.". The Motrin finally kicked in and I tried to cool her with a cloth. Jack got up to help out, thankfully. It's tough doing that alone. Once she was comfortable and asleep I left her on the couch and tried to get some...
