Aug 11, 2019 - Heading For Home

Friday dawned as a cool, crisp beautiful day. We took our time and pulled out of the campground around 11AM after wishing Glenn and Connie a safe trip. They'll be heading South to the Lancaster area while we'll be heading due East. We head North on PA-42 and then turn East on I-80. It's 96 miles and we cover it in a little over two hours. Traffic is pretty light until we get into the Stroudsburg area. But it's Friday afternoon, so that's to be expected as we're at the gateway to the Pocono resort region. We've had 3 nights here at the...

Summer 2019

Oct 6, 2017 - Back to NYC to see Dann Sheridan

Repeat trip to city. Walked up to Times Square and gawked at all the people, lights and sights. Had dinner with Dann Sheridan, Molly and Lena at Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen & Bar. It was nice to catch up on their lives and to have a wonderful dinner. Finally got a good selfie because we had a teenager with us. Long trip back to camp, 90 minutes on the train and then an hour drive. We are very exhausted after 2 days in the city.

Oct 5, 2017 - Train to NYC to see Daniel Coughlin

Dover NJ train to NYC. Subway to near the 911 memorial and walked down to see the Statue of Liberty in the distance. Walked back up to Tribeca to meet Danial & Hester for dinner. Small place but good drinks and food. It was great to catch up with Daniel & Hester. Caught the train back to Dover NJ and drove back to camp and got some sleep.

Oct 4, 2017 - Headed to Pennsylvania

We are on the road again heading to Timothy Lakes Thousand Trails in East Strousburg PA. Today we traveled in CT, NY and into PA. Lots of driving and traffic. We got to our campground and got parked and operational. We went for a little drive to see what was in the area. This campground is in or near the Pocono’s. Ate some of our leftovers for dinner. We still have enough food left that I froze 2 containers of pasta for later meals. Heading into New York City tomorrow to see Daniel Coughlin.

Oct 7, 2013 - into the Poconos of Pennsylvania

We're finally in another RV park with decent internet connections. During our stay in Frankenmuth, Linda found a quaint little Tea Room, so we had to visit there for lunch. It had an extensive listing of available teas, and even some "substantial" food offerings, so both of us were pleased! Our last day in Michigan we tried to make a couple of birdwatching stops, but were frustrated as they were national wildlife refuges shut since the Federal Government was currently being run by 3-year-olds. (pardon the editorial comment) The next day,...

Aug 29, 2011 - East Stroudsburg PA

We woke to a beautiful day with a temperature in the 50s. The air was clear, the sun was out and there was a breeze. We headed back east on I80. The traffic wasn't bad, but this is obviously a heavy truck route. We crossed the Susquehana River twice. It sure wasn't the calm pretty river we rode on in Harrisburg, PA. It was out of its banks, muddy, and running fast. When we stopped for gas, John talked to a group from East Lebanon, southwest of Pittsburg. The group was an Urban Search and Rescue Team that had been in New Jersey in case they...

Aug 15, 2011 - E. Stroudsburg, PA

The drive from Littleton, MASS was a hard one - 266 miles, rained all day, sometimes it rained so hard we could only travel 35-45 mph - NOT the way I like to travel and I arrived pretty grumpy because we really didn't HAVE to be traveling in it . . . Camping at Outdoor World Timothy Lake North - this is probably the worst campground we have been in since we left home! I tried not to be too negative when we arrived because it was, and had been, raining so it was really gloomy, lots of leaves that needed to be cleaned up, etc. But even after...

Jun 21, 2011 - Bumpy Roads and Change in Plans

Thursday we hitchedup....oops....our tongue jack started making a really loud knocking noise....but we were able to finish hitching up. Today was suppose to be a short drive to Quakertown, PA north of Philadelphia, PA. But plans changed. We headed out....North to Harrisburg, PA and then east to Quakertown....on the worst roads of the whole trip. I mean really bad...bone jarring....dangerous roads to be pulling a travel trailer. One spot was so bad that Tom had to nearly stop or we could have lost the trailer.....the eighteen wheeler behind...

SILVER TRAILS

Oct 3, 2010 - Troy and Sarah's Wedding

We did not have great weather during the last week of September in Pennsylvania. Our trip to New York's Long Island was cancelled, but Saturday dawned bright and sunny for Troy and Sarah's wedding. A great time was had by all, and Steve and I left for our rally in Hershey right on schedule. For a week, we toured and shopped in and around Hershey, Pennsylvania, caught up with some of our Bluebird friends from past rallies, and made some new friends, as well. Next week, we'll head to another Bluebird rally in Georgia, where we'll start the...

Oct 31, 2007 - Last day before takeoff!

Here we are, our last day in New York before we head out. Our experience packing and moving all of our belongings was somewhat disastrous. We had a rental truck explosion on our way to Brooklyn, hours and hours of traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway (aka boogie down parking lot), numerous trips out to Pennsylvania because of forgotten items in our storage locker, and several other issues that made moving harder than we expected. Our colorful Bronx apartment is completely empty and Josh and I did a phenomenal job clearing it out. That...

Sep 3, 2007 - Curwensville, PA to East Stroudsburg, PA

After an emotional departure from Pat and Blair, we continued our trip to the East. The 200 mile stretch of I80 was near perfect - green rolling hills with a new road surface. We arrived at the Delware Water Gap KOA and got a little R&R. The campground has rough roads with coarse gravel, making it tough to walk the girls - SSs. After staying in Pat and Blair's driveway for two nights and enjoying their backyard, any campground is going to look pretty poor.

Jul 25, 2007 - Three Days Of Rest In The Pocono's

Wednesday, July 25th, East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. We finally left Rhode Island on July 23rd after two fun filled weeks. We traveled from Scituate to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and it was raining all the way. We registered at Mountain Vista Campground for three nights. We have visited the area before and didn't plan too much activity this trip. We plan to go to the Pennsylvania Dutch area near Lancaster, but didn't want to travel that far in one trip. We decided to spend three days here to rest up from all our activity in Rhode...
