Jul 14, 2018 - Upper Eastside Manhattan - Carlisle, PA

Shelby and Branden’s apartment is small and is located on the 11th floor. Susan and Julie slept in their bed, Shelby and Branden slept on the sofa and I slept in the closet. Oh yes the closet! It was very cozy. The only problem was the elevator shaft was on the other side of the wall so I heard the elevator go up and down all nite, the dog barked to get in and the cat was in and out all nite!! But I did sleep a little as I was dead tired. We all went out to brunch at a restaurant called “LePain Quotidien” a Bakery and Communal Table. The...

Today we went from Vienna, NY to Carlisle, PA. At the campsite we were treated to Halloween festivities. We met with Wes & Joyce James, Bea's cousin. We went to see different sights about town and went to dinner. We had an awesome dinner and went back to the RV to retire for the night. She now has a walking stick from Wes, with a history.

Today we went from Greenwood, VA to Carlisle, PA. We crossed thru West Virginia and Maryland on our way to Pennsylvania. When we got to Carlisle, Bea looked up her long lost cousin, Wes and they got together. We spent two hours going over family history and getting to know them. Oct 1, 2016 - Pennsylvania

So we're driving the Hwy in the rain and Frank sees a sign for a town called Carlisle. He remembered about an Antique and car swap meet that was held 2 X a yr. . He asked me to google the place and low and behold it was 50 k along our route. So we stopped and walked through , he didn't buy anything but enjoyed looking. and then we went to our campsite we booked earlier which was 7 k away. Now relaxing and enjoying some television down time.

We decide to take I-80 to Pennsylvania and the take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to Carlisle. The turnpike will take us through tunnels rather than over the mountains. This will be a long day, but there's really no place we're looking to stop along the way. It's 376 miles to Carlisle. About halfway across Pennsylvania, we stop at a rest area for fuel and discover we're leaking air from a rear outside tire. Rather than take any more chances after my experience 2 years ago, we find a safe place to park and call for road service. Happily we only...

The traffic was moderately congested. You could blend in...

Aug 29, 2014 - Labor Day

We did our grocery shopping yesterday so we would not have to get out over the weekend. It is going to be interesting here this week-end. The lady at the office told Donald that we got the last spot available for the week-end. The trailers and motorhomes started coming in right after 2 o'clock and it was a steady stream all evening until the park was full. People really get into this camping. They work for hours getting all there grills and camping stuff out. As soon as it starts to get dark everyone builds a fire. The swimming pool is...

Aug 26, 2014 - truck is fixed

Took the truck in yesterday to Bob Ruth Ford in Dillsburg Pa. They were very nice, gave us a estimate on the truck a d we decided it had to be fixed. She said it would take about 6 hours so they gave us a ride back to the camp ground which was about 15 miles away. They called about 4 and said it wouldn't be done that day but they would give us a call in the morning when they got it done and would send somebody after us. Sure was glad to get that done. We rode over to Gettysburg that afternoon. The museum was interesting and they had a...

Aug 24, 2014 - friendly church

We went to Carlisle Baptist Church this morning. A real friendly little church. A man ask us where we were from and we told him Ky but we were heading to Texas. He said there was another coulple he had talked to that was headed to Texas. When we walked out they were standing on the steps so I ask the lady if they were headed to Texas and she said yes to Georgetown. She said they had been full timers for 6 years and had been working with RVICS for 4 years but they were building a home in Georgetown. We said we had volunteered at Wilderness...

Aug 22, 2014 - sit for awhile

Donald noticed the front tire was wearing and the ball joints were lose so we need to get the truck looked at. We decided we needed to sit for awhile and wait for it to cool off down south. It has rained here some but they say it is going to be nice this week. Low 80s in the day and 60s at night Found a ford dealer about 15 miles from here so will get them to look at the truck. Guess we will stay here until the 3th of sept.

Aug 21, 2014 - hersheys chocolate

We rode over to Hersey Pa to see Herseys Chocolate World. We just took the free tour that shows how all the differant candies are made. Of course they have a huge shop that sells all kinds of choclate candy , souvenirs, cupcakes, cookies, and all kinds of clothes. They have a Amusement Park but we didn't have any desire to go there. We couldn't believe how crowded it was. We keep thinking kids should be in school. They don't start school here until after Labor Day. We found out the other day that they don't get our of school until the...

Aug 20, 2014 - rain

We were only driving 195 miles today and the campground we were going to said you couldn't check in before 2:00 so we didn't leave the campground until after 10:00. Had alot of road construction today. The lady at the campground last night said they were replacing all the bridges on interstate 81 in Pa. The roads were going to be torn up for 3 years. We had road construction on and off the whole day. We hate driving in the rain so we try to sit when they are predicting rain. About 15 miles from where we were stopping it got real dark and...
