Oct 28, 2016 - Last Stop - Poconos

2016-10-28. Last Stop For our last stop of this Roadie-Oh trip, we traveled to the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania to the Thousand Trails campground, Timothy Lake South where we spent a lot of time each year. Autumn has certainly waned here with most of the leaves off the trees. Naturally, the evening we arrived, it began to rain and then snow but only a little ice formed over night. The following day was awful though with a cold rain falling all through the day. Today, it was still cold, not reaching more than 45 all day with a fierce,...

Sep 18, 2016 - TT Timothy Lake

Very seldom do we transfer parks on Sunday, but this time it couldn't be avoided. However, this trip was 230 miles and fairly easy, straight south. Well almost, there was that little problem going thru a little town and we were confronted with a low railroad bridge sign that indicated it was 12' 8" and since we are 12' 10" tall, we just weren't going to fit! Dave happened to be driving at the time, he put the skidders on and evaluated the situation. Luckily, there was a driveway to a big parking lot on our right, with a short 10 foot...

Oct 8, 2014 - Poconos

2014-10-08 – Timothy Lake We returned to Pennsylvania from New York State and are at Timothy Lake, a campground near Bushkill Falls, PA. We stay here often during the summer when the Pocono Pony runs free shuttles through the Delaware River National Recreation area from Memorial Day to Labor Day. That way we only need one car and we and our kayaks can travel up river via the shuttle and lazily paddle down river. Before and after Memorial Day, there is normally a lot of great hiking in this area as well as the 30 mile long McDade hike/bike...

Oct 4, 2012 - Old friends

We left our rainy overnight lodging and headed into Pennsylvania. The trees are at near peak colors and were stunning. We had wished for a sunny day to make them even better but alas it rained all day. Our first stop was for lunch in Hawley PA at the Boatyard Restaurant on a picturesque lake. We met my childhood and high school best friend Frank Mooney and his wife Pat. We have been friends for so long, back to grade school days. We both played baseball and didn't get a chance to be on the same team until Junior High and then through high...

Jun 13, 2011 - Drying out and other stuff

With the transfer of Dad and Shirley complete we both took the day to clean, wash and organize. What a job. Everything was either wet or really dirty. After the day was done we settled in for an early bedtime. We are relaxing (?) at Lutz' house again today (Monday). We are little by little getting the big honkin' dually and camper back in shape. We are off again tomorrow to begin month # 4 with a surprise location. We are going to Cape Cod. We love the cape and have been there a great number of times however, we were not going to do the NE...

Jun 12, 2011 - Raininy travel

We left Saratoga Lake wet. Forgot to bring the chairs in and it poured. Couple that with wet towels from showers and other assorted wet things and we are in need of a washer and dryer. We travelled down to the Delaware Water Gap and spent the night in a private campground on Federal land. Dad got to use HIS golden age pass for half price camping. As some of you know since his name is my name too, I have his golden age pass with me. This time I didn't even need to wonder if they were going to check my birth date from my license. In a couple...
