Jun 16, 2014 - A Quick Update

We completed our first week at Lake Raystown RV Resort. We’ve had some heat, thunderstorms, rain and even a tornado watch last Wednesday, but we had a beautiful weekend. On Saturday, we drove to Altoona a little north of where we are staying to see the Horseshoe Curve and the Railroaders Memorial Museum. It was an interesting trip because we learned a lot about the railroad history of the area. This morning we got up and decided to stay here just one more day. We had pan cakes and sausage for breakfast and then went over to Wal-Mart to get our battery replaced. We traveled north on I-81 to I-70 to Penn Turnpike to I-99 and we are staying at the Wrights Orchard Station Campground in Altoona, Pa on site #5 $33 per night. A special attraction in the campground is a large train layout in the camp office that includes a working turntable and quarter round house. The lady in office said her sister would be there tomorrow and would turn on the trains for Clay and Autumn to see. We ate lunch at Cracker Barrel after traveling at total of 111 miles today.

Well after months of getting ready and cleaning out and semi-retiring and saying my goodbyes and, and, and...I am on my way out West to find what I may find. The last few days before I left were a little crazy with all the last minute things to do. As they say, the best laid plans.... So I woke up Thursday knowing it was my last morning in NY (for now), that was just one of the thoughts I had. I was just hoping the few more chores to do would not take all day! One of my concerns was how much the motorhome weighed. From my reading of other...
