Jun 30, 2015 - Allegheny National Forest and Recreation Area, Kinzua Dam

We left this morning from Sayre, Pennsylvania, traveling west to Titisville, Pennsylvania. This trip took us through Allegheny National Forest and Recreation Area. The scenery was beautiful as we passed by the Allegheny Reservoir and Kinzua Dam even with the rain. Since the sun did peak through a few times, we were hoping for a rainbow over the dam but no such luck. However, there were water falls running down the side of the bank on the cliff along the road. Interesting fact about Titisville. The first oil well in the WORLD was drilled...

Jun 9, 2015 - Reaching Allegheny National Forest

They say this area is God's country. You see signs, letterhead, and advertising posters declaring this most holy event. The countryside is green, pine trees flank both sides of the road, standing stately along highway 422 like a welcoming committee. The earthy smell of the forest breathing out pure oxygen fills our lungs. One advantage of being on a motorcycle is you experience the road trip using all your senses. Feel the cool breeze upon your face, taste the freshness of a gentle drizzle, listen to a call of a bird, smell the sweet drift of...

We fell asleep for a few more hours before climbing out of the tent. Once again the mist still hung over the reservoir. We wanted to get a faster start today because the drive to the...

Oct 1, 2013 - Rimrock Trail and Overlook

Day 2: Red Bridge Campground and Rimrock Loop Trail Trip Details for Tuesday, October 1st -- With sparse tree cover to the east of our campsite I was expecting to awake to sunshine this morning. Instead, mist hung over the reservoir until noon. A sunny Autumn day emerged for a grand finale at sunset. After a leisurely breakfast and site cleanup, taking time out to watch a bald eagle, we drove the Longhouse Scenic Road to Jake's Overlook for views of the reservoir and the Kinzua Dam then drove along Rte 321 to the dam itself. The area was...
