Sep 11, 2012 - Westfir Oregon - Casey's Riverside RV Park (outside of Eugene)

Wake up and Danna wants to investigate the park for a possible investment. We looked at parks in the past but always found issues with them and never found one we could buy for ourselves. I already checked the Internet and found basic information, like they want $2m for it. Anyway, the numbers don’t defend the price, so we think even though this is a pretty park, it won’t work out. We load up the bikes and head to GreenRiver park at the other end of Oakridge it has a small bike trail. The trail crosses and then follows the river, very...

Sep 10, 2012 - Westfir Oregon - Casey's Riverside RV Park (outside of Eugene)

Shopping day in Eugene. We wake up to partly cloudy skies, like it was the day before and load up the bikes. We are going to bike Eugene and then shop. 10 miles from Eugene Momma Nature tells us that any biking will be a wet task. We call an audible (after all we are in Duck country…Go DUCKS!) and do WalMart and Costco. Still raining around 10:30, but the guy at Costco swears it will break by noon, so we head to free Wi-fi at McDonalds to get some work-work done. Did I mention we buy too much at Costco? But since there is no sales tax it...

Sep 9, 2012 - Westfir Oregon - Casey's Riverside RV Park (outside of Eugene)

Got up early and headed out of Reedsport on highway 38 towards Eugene(ish). Very pretty highway follows the river valley then they save you a hill climb by sending you through a tunnel . Finally got to go through the town of Drain. How many times on I-5 have you seen the sign for Drain and wondered what the town was like? Well wonder no more, small town with one cute building that we assume is a B&B, not much else other than the RR tracks. 38 ends at I-5 and we followed the familiar highway past Cottage Grove. Headed out east on 58 towards...

Aug 4, 2012 - Day 2 - On the road again

We got up early in the morning to get an early start. We left driving South on the I-5 heading to Westfir, Oregon. Crossing over the Columbia River we were detoured off the I-5 thru Portland. It was a bit slow but not too bad. It was hot again as we continued driving South. We watched a lot of farmers cutting and bailing hay. The funniest thing we saw was in the back of a small pick-up truck. I was behind it for a time and was watching the dog in the back of the bed thinking how odd it was to keep a dog in the back of a p/u truck travelling...

Sep 21, 2011 - Casey's Riverside RV Resort in Westfir, OR

We left Shelter Cove, climbed 300 feet to over 5000 and then started our descent to Westfir, OR at 1075 feet thinking all the time that in a few days we would be retracing our steps back up over the mountains. Sally was so excited to stay at Casey’s Riverside RV Park on the Willamette River. After all, her dog is named Casey. They had hats with the name on, so for Sally and Mike’s anniversary which we celebrated while we were there, we bought them each a hat. Oakridge, OR, Westfir’s neighboring town, is the mountain bike capital of the...

Jul 28, 2009 - Westfir, Oregon

We left Portland on Monday, the 27th....heading down I-5 to Eugene...then headed southeast on Oregon 58....heading towards Diamond Lake/Crater Lake for the end of the week. We stopped in Westfir, Oregon, population 267....where we have stopped at Casey's RV Park. One of the nicest stops we have had, and probably one of our top ten RV parks we have ever seen. On a fork of the Willamette River, we have a river front site, wide/spacious sites, level with full utilities...heated (warm even for me!) swimming pool, a really nice clubhouse with...
