May 22, 2012 - Vale, OR

We’re in eastern Oregon now, very near the Idaho border, and back in sticker land. I didn’t realize that this area is so arid. The drive out here was long, but uneventful. There is an unwritten RV'er code that when you pass an RV on the road, you wave to them. We waved all day long, but no one waved back (sniff). Whenever we are in Nebraska, not only do the RV'ers wave to us, but the truckers, cars, and everyone else does, too. The campground here was the only option for us, and we’re just taking a day off from driving to do laundry and...

Aug 9, 2007 - Last leg of trip

This is where we spent the night. Bully Creek Resorvoir in Vale, OR. The campground was great.. $10 for 50amp electric. the sites were huge. Last evening we had these big Night Hawks swooping around eating all the bugs, was like a circus act. they would get to a foot off the ground flying fast then swoop up and around and around and never hit each other or us or anything. Supposedly a great bass fishing site.

Roaming Vectra Vixen

Nov 13, 2006 - Farewell Bend State Park, OR

This was a welcome stopping point after a long, one-day run down from Spokane trying to get ahead of bad weather. We pushed through snow on the interstate around LeGrande, OR with one eye glued to the outside temperature but after getting over the last pass everything cleared up nicely as we made it into the park. As you can see, this part has some well laid-out sites, paved spurs, and is nicely treed. You can also tell that we are a little behind the season since the place was almost empty! At any rate, we washed a lot of pine needle crud...

Aug 23, 2005 - The Andersen's Farm

The generator is humming as we sit along the side of Hwy 84 just east of Boise, Idaho. Evelyn is quietly playing with stuffed animals and Bob is outside waiting for roadside service. A blown tire delays our drive from the Andersen's farm to Yellowstone. We are fine...more than fine. We are comfortable in our fully stocked air-conditioned home; thinking how this happened close to assistance and did not take time away from our visit with the Andersens. That was sweet time, indeed. This summer marks 20 years since the SPRINT trip to Hong Kong...

Oct 19, 2004 - Twin Falls to Ontario, Oregon

DAY 14. Tues 19th Oct. Twin Falls to Ontario, Oregon. Drove west on the Interstate Highway, boring but quick. Across vast distances of open prairie, undulating for miles in all directions, with hills or in some cases, mountains in the far distance. The road makers weren't too fussed about bends, so they just got the longest ruler they could find, and drew straight lines on the map. I started to note how long these stretches were, and when I found one that went 25 miles without the slightest deviation, I gave up! There is one practice which...
