Oct 3, 2013 - Timber Valley (SKP Co-Op)

A few years ago at an Escapade we won a free week stay at Timber Valley SKP Coop RV park in Oregon. Being from the east coast we thought maybe we will trade it, thinking we will never get that far west. Well since it did not have any expiration date we decided to hold on to it. And here we are in Oregon so what a great stay we had. After the free week we added two more days to our stay. Mileage: 30,835 ending 30,968.5

Oct 16, 2012 - Sutherlin - Timber Valley SKP

We drove from Harrisburg to Sutherlin, a distance of about 84 miles or so. We plan to spend a few days here at the Timber Valley SKP. We noticed (again) that the geese are starting to head south for the winter, so we will have some 'cool' company on our journey south! :-) Mike and Nancy

Travels In Serenity

Oct 2, 2012 - Sutherlin, OR

Tue, 02 Oct: After a restful nite boondocking at Roadmaster we finally rousted ourselves from our cozy bed and got ready for the road. We'd been here three days so things tended to creep from their stowage places and needed to be returned thereto. Following a relaxing breakfast we went thru our checklist and got the slides retracted. Bob walked to the Roadmaster office to deliver a thank you note while Sandi checked tire pressures and fluid levels. When Bob returned we hooked up the car and bade farewell to our new friends Ralph & Doreen....

2012 Travels

Sep 27, 2012 - Vaux Swifts

Vaux Swifts Sep 27, 2012 This has been a great visit. George and Trudi have been generous with their time and showed us around the Sutherlin area so we could get a feel for the town, just in case we decide to hang up the keys one day. They have taken us to a great Korean resutaurant and Chinese restaurant over the last couple of days and I must admit that the Korean one was hands down one of the best meals we have had in some time. However the restaurant is up for sale, as the couple that have run it for years are trying to retire. Hope...

Sep 26, 2012 - Crate Lake Drive

Crater Lake Drive Sep 26, 2012 George was busy this morning so Carol and I took off for a visit to Crater Lake NP. It's only a couple of hours from Sutherlin and we knew it would be a great drive. Most of the way from Sutherlin to the park runs at about the same elevation as Sutherlin, it follows along the Umpqua River. In the early part of the morning we had pretty good light to take photos with and I got a couple of keepers. Only when you start to get close to the park does the road start to climb and it does it in fine fashion. We passed...

Sep 25, 2012 - Timber Valley SKP Park

Timber Valley SKP Park Sep 25, 2012 As usual we got off to a mid morning start and grabbed I-5 and headed north for Sutherlin, Oregon and the SKP's Park there. Driving up I-5 one passes through a number of small towns but and only a few larger ones, there is Yreka, CA the county seat of Siskiyou County which contains Mt Shasta, also Ashland/Medford, OR and Roseburg, OR. We almost got taken by our GPS when it wanted us to take a right on a road that looked more like a driveway, so we skipped that turn and kept going north until the GPS...

Aug 31, 2012 - Cut off from the WWWorld by MacAfee

Timber Valley RV Park, Sutherlin OR Friday, August 31 , 9 PM PDT After a couple weeks in the mountains of west central Oregon, I’ve landed here in Sutherlin, midway between Eugene and Medford, on the I-5 corridor to restock and regroup. Costco and supermarkets are available in nearby Roseburg. This Escapees park is a place for former full-time RVers to get off the road, retire to their motor homes, buy a golf cart, add a porch or other out-building, put in a small garden, and kick back. There are black-tail deer and jackrabbits...

Aug 20, 2012 - Sutherlin, Oregon

Freightliner opened the gate at 07:00AM Monday morning and I was able to drive the RV to the service write up area. I explained to the service writer what had happened. They said they would do a diagnostic but could give no guarantee on when they could work on the RV. They told me the diagnostic indicated the IAP sensor was bad and they could get one from Portland. However, they could not do any work until the night shift came in. I asked them to change the oil, filter, lube the chassis, change the air filter along with the fuel filter and...

Nov 13, 2011 - Sutherlin, OR almost home.

11-13-11 Sutherlin, OR Last Sunday, we arrived in Las Cruces, NM. We heard that Monday was going to be very windy, so we decided to stay an extra day. We headed for Mesilla to do a walk. Somehow, we missed a turn, got lost, finally asked for directions, and ended up walking at least 10 miles. As a reward, we had a wonderful Mexican dinner in a building which had been built in the 1840's for the Butterfield Stage Line. Tuesday we arrived in Eloy, AZ (between Tucson and Phoenix) in time to watch a half a dozen sky divers. The next morning a...

Oct 21, 2011 - Day #44, 10-21-11

Day #44, 10-21-11 This morning we filled up at Fred Meyers in Florence. I found out that they were partnered with Ralph Markets as well as others. I gave them out Ralph’s rewards card and saved $.03 per gallon. We averaged 7.9 MPG on this fill. That was good news. We headed east 62 miles on Highway #126 from Florence to Eugene and then down 21 miles to Cottage Grove. The drive along 126 was pretty and followed the Siuslaw River for a good while. The river had a lot of fishing activities. We must have seen 50 or 60 small, personal boats....

Sep 18, 2011 - 7th Update

Sunday, September 4, 2011 – We called Brian and Jenny (Parks) after breakfast to find out what would be the best time to see them (and of course, Maggie – now 3½ months old). (Note: Brian is Faith and Ralph Parks’ son.) We ended up visiting them today between 1:00 and 6:00 PM. They moved to Seattle two years ago in June from NYC – what an adjustment – but made it fine and love it! We had a great time (especially Betty) paying a great deal of attention to Maggie! What an adorable little girl. Monday, September 5, 2011 – We visit Marvin &...

May 2, 2011 - Skippy park

We have arrived at the Timber Valley Escapee (Skippy) Co-Op park in Sutherlin, Oregon after a short 126 mile drive from Salem this morning. It rained most of the way, but the sun is breaking through holes in the clouds and forecasters promise several nice days ahead. Our friends Barb and Dave are due to arrive at any time now. Let the party begin! There is no park-wide WiFi here, so my posts on Juanita's IPad will be brief. We are looking forward to spending several days checking out the area with our friends before heading back to Port...
