Jul 8, 2012 - South Beach State Park, OR
We stopped on the way north at the Drift Inn in Yachats where the seafood chowder is to die for. And we found another new favorite-mac n jack African amber. Alas our favorite gift shop there is closed. There was a farmers market so we got some outstanding blueberries and zucchini. South Beach State Park is bigger than Sunset Beach, the sites are bigger but ours has some overhanging trees that were a nuisance. The weather on the way up was cool and overcast but the sun came out while we were setting up. We found the South Beach Fish Market...

Very windy and still having showers. Got some good pics of the ocean. Went back to camp got our swim suits and headed for the...

We followed OR126 from Veneta to Florence where we made a stop at the Sea Lion Caves en route to South Beach State Park near Newport. A and I have never seen Sea Lions so this was an opportunity to observe them. Matthew was with us for this trip between campgrounds and seemed to enjoy himself. By the way, he sends his greetings to all the Happy Nomads. The Sea Lion Caves are natural caves and quite dark. For some reason, sea lions like to...

Jun 10, 2008 - Whalers Rest, Oregon coast
Crossed the Columbia at Astoria over historical bridge and end of Lewis and Clark expedition. Bought dog food and headed down the Oregon coast to South Beach. Snow in the Cascades and rain and wind here on the coast. Beautiful but Brook is needing some sunshine and outdoor activity.
