Jul 1, 2012 - Out of California

Quick update, finally out of California, we went from one end of state clear to the top, scenery wonderful, roads leave a lot to be desired though. Our time in Klamath was outstanding, the Pacific coast is very rugged and almost calm. I have pictures but internet service is just too slow to download will try later. We ran into rain as we hit Oregon yesterday, not hard just enough to get the coach streaked with more dirt. Today we are headed to Eugene for a couple of days, then onto Portland, spending the 4th in Seattle. Will catch up soon.

West trip 2012

Jun 29, 2012 - Sweet success - sort of

Roseburg, OR. Having been thwarted in our earlier visit, we returned today to Crater Lake National Park with the hope that we would now be able to drive completely around the lake. We drove up through rain but the temperature was still in the 50’s so we were hopeful. We were partially rewarded. On Wednesday we had been able to traverse only a short bit of road on the very west edge. Today a large section of the East Rim Road was open, all the way to Skell Lookout, about half way around the lake. We had debated on the drive up about how the...

Jun 21, 2012 - The Road Trip Heads South to Roseburg

We were all up and ready to continue our “road trip”. Today we headed south to Roseburg and High Street’s job at the Reustle (pronounced like Russell) Vineyards the elephant stomp “wine release” party. The game plan was to take the scenic coast highway 101 south for a while before heading back east to catch I-5 and make time to reach our destination! Overall a five hour journey! Our first stop was in Cannon Beach to see Haystack Rock. Cannon Beach is a really pretty and quaint artist community with the main draw being the broad three-mile...

Sep 6, 2010 - Roseburg, OR

Monday through Wednesday, September 6-8 Twin Rivers Vacation Park, Roseburg Twin Rivers Vacation Park is north of Roseburg, adjacent to Oregon State University’s horticultural gardens and surrounded on three sides by farm fields. We’ve had a motley assortment of minor glitches on this trip: broken window blind, ceiling light, truck bed cover, Bluetooth system and someone swiped our awning wand in Shady Cove! Fortunately Scott’s a handy guy and ordered a repair kit online from ‘The Dirty Blind Man’ while we were in Pismo Beach. Tuesday he...

Our BikeTrip 2010

Aug 12, 2010 - My First Walmart Experience

I decided that yesterdays drive was to long and I needed to shorten my driving time on the next leg of the trip, so I stayed at Walmart in Sutherlin and it was not bad at all...I will probably do Wal-mart from time to time for one nighters while en-route. I walked around the area and got some exercise but really didn't save any money though, because I went shopping, ate out and took in a movie too...Oh well!

Pat's Adventure's

Dec 9, 2009 - Roseburg, OR

This was our Thanksgiving trip. John was on call on Wednesday before Thanksgiving so we had to postpone our departure until Thursday morning. That was ok, especially since we were invited for a dessert at the house we’ve been ‘sitting for’. The son of the family is a major in International Studies and a minor in – of all things! – Finnish language!?!?! He was very excited to practice his Finnish with me and I have to say he did pretty well! I could tell John was so envious!! Thursday morning early we left for our trip that took us south...

Jun 28, 2008 - We are at Roseburg and the air is much cleaner

We picked up and left Redding early this morning. The fires, close by, filled the air with smoke. We only traveled a few miles and passed Shasta Lake. I could see the water was at a very low level but the boaters were still using the lake to have fun. We started to see blue skies in the Yreka area. Soon we crossed the boarder into Oregon for even cleaner air. Still a little warm and humid but so many trees. We stopped for lunch at a great rest stop filled with grass and trees. We had lunch and was on our way. Arriving to a nice RV...

Oct 21, 2007 - Arrived at "On the River Golf & Rv Park"

We are on the road hitting it hard this time and going 88 miles to just south of Roesburg, Or. We arrived, parked, and were set up by 11:30 AM at a great little RV park called "On The River Golf & RV Park". It has a short 6 hole, par 3 golf course with little ponds filled with bass for catch and release only. Wildlife Safari is only a few miles away so that is where we went after lunch. They wouldn't let us drive through with Buck in the car so we just went through the part you could walk through which was fun. They had a little train that...

May 6, 2007 - Escapees park in Sutherlin, Oregon

Spent the night in the Escapees Coop park in Sutherlin, Oregon. A really nice place, full of great people. Had nice site with full hookups for $15 a night. Had a flock of wild turkeys wandering through the park. The toms were in full strut and doing a lot of gobbling. Lots of noise.
