Total: 261 miles Total: 7006 miles Dale: Alright…so I was a little sentimental a few days ago! But…you know…being married to a girl that is willing to ride a motorcycle around the country with you…will do that to you! So…back to our regular program…today was all about Crater Lake National Park. If you haven’t seen the pictures yet…you have to take a look…the place is unbelievable! After a quick morning run and some breakfast, we left Shady Cove around 9:00 and headed west on the 62. It follows the Rogue River for the first 25 miles or so...

Jul 13, 2008 - Still in The Cascades

Hi Everyone: We stayed a second day in the Cascades both to relax and to see more of this magnificent place. In the late morning we headed off on “The Bike Named Sue” to parts unknown. We followed old roads along the McKenzie River and turned left and right whenever it suited us. Eventually we wound up at the Cougar Dam. This was a hydro-electric project built by the US Army Corps of Engineers. It is an “earthen” dam that uses the dynamic forces of earth at a steep angle to hold back millions of tons of water.
