Aug 5, 2012 - Crater Lake
Crater Lake today – weather was much more comfortable. We were all happier. First stop of the day was Beckie’s Restaurant – famous for home-made pies. Bob could not have been happier as when he hefted that ’10 lb.’ berry-berry pie into the car. Each couple bought one – the 2 cherry pies were still warm so the aroma wafted throughout the cars – and cost $16 each !!! It was a good start to Bob’s day. Crater Lake is the most beautiful lake I have ever seen that is inaccessible to touch. The water is like a sapphire blue. It is the deepest lake...

Aug 4, 2012 - another travel day
Another travel day but very short - only 60 miles. We are planning to go to Crater Lake tomorrow. Since we were in the campgound early we did some local poking around. The party sure stopped for us today - it was sooooo hot 101 degrees. We have been very lucky and not had really hot weather since we left Rapid City. We hate it - but we have good electricity in the campground so we can run the AC to full tilt. We DO NOT have any TV or cell phone service (anywhere around here) - but great WiFi. What more can you expect in the wilderness? Most...

Sep 10, 2011 - To Prospect, OR
Our time on the Oregon coast has come to an end and we head inland today to Prospect, OR and Crater Lake. It was a long day for us as we stopped in Sutherlin, OR to visit our friends Fred and Rita at the Escapees Park there. It was a great visit and we didn't mind the extra time spent traveling to see such great friends.

Jul 28, 2011 - Crater Lake
Crater Lake (July 23-24) On our way from Klamath in the RV we stopped in Crescent City to have one of the rear inside duals on the RV checked. I had not been able to keep it aired up, so had them pull it to check it. Loose valve, no charge. Nice folks. We had to come pretty far inland from our coastal trip to see Crater Lake, but it was on my “bucket list” of places the had to be seen. Had no reservations anywhere, so took a chance and pulled into the Crater Lake RV Park at Prospect, OR early afternoon. Meant to just stay one night and move...

Jun 20, 2011 - Worthing Adventure 2011 Day Six & Seven
Day 6 & 7 Took things pretty easy on Saturday. Just went down into the closest town and had brunch. Then stopped at a tie-die fair on the way back to Prospect. It was a little antique type fair with a lot of handmade items. There were a couple of tables I really liked but obviously would have no way to get home. After we left there we stopped by a book and gift shop and I found a picture to bring home. I did buy it but have no idea how I’m going to get it back to Wisconsin! After we left the town we just came back to Dave and Sue’s to...

Jun 18, 2011 - Worthing Adventure 2011 Day Five
Day 5 7:30am Brian and I slept in Dave and Sue’s camper last night.. now I want one of these! It’s really nice. ☺ But it’s really cold too – brrr. Time to figure out what we are doing today. If it involves a long car ride I think I’ll rebel, and so will the kids! Well, it did involve a long car ride but we decided to go with the flow since it involved going to the Oregon Coast. We left here about 9:30 and got to the coast about 3:00, but it wasn’t all driving. We stopped at a Kohl’s store to buy a Fathers Day gift for Brian’s dad. Then we...

Jun 20, 2010 - Fort Bragg to Prospect Oregon
Fort Bragg CA to Prospect Oregon 376 miles (total trip miles 711) We said our goodbyes to Sarah & Greg, we were heading north to Oregon and they are heading home to San Francisco. We had a great time with them, hope do it again. After we finished packing up the tent the campground had a Fathers Day breakfast, while eating I tried to upload to this web site and after a frustrating ½ hour I was told they had been having internet problems, hence the late post’s. We left the campground and drove the last 25 miles up route 1 north to Legget...

Aug 3, 2009 - Prospect
After saying goodbye to the East Coast Harmons, and sending them off to Florida and North Carolina, we moved from Sunriver to the Prospect RV Park near Crater Lake. What a great park ! Under the big pines, but every convenience. Right near the Rogue River, and many water falls, and only about 30 miles to Crater Lake. We explored along the road to Crater Lake, and found Rogue River Gorge, a collapsed lava tube in which the river runs. Very cool ! We tried to find National Falls, but ended up driving a long ways, and then had to hike down a...

Aug 25, 2008 - Prospect RV Park
Prospect RV Park is really beautiful. The sites are level and treed but not so much that there is no satellite. The hosts are friendly and helpful. The weather is picture perfect, blue skies cool in the morning and just right in the afternoon. The park itself has nature trails but we just didn’t have time to explore them. After setting up we took the hosts’ suggested tour around Prospect. First stop was a short walk to see Pearsony Falls from two vantage points. Then another hike to see Mill Creek Falls and Barr Creek Falls. On that one we...

Jul 21, 2008 - Prospect, Oregon our base camp for Crater Lake NP
We decided to take Highway 199 to 234 to 62 to Prospect from the southern tip of the Oregon Coast. It was a nice drive that began in the northern tip of the Redwood Forest of California. The tall redwoods seemed like guardsmen watching over the road. I found myself humming the song "This land is your land" as I enjoyed the view out the window. I tried to take pictures but they came out blurry. We saw and admired a lot of Pacific Madrone trees that we had just learned about on the jet boat ride. Their trunks peel to reveal another color, a...

May 17, 2008 - Crater Lake, Rogue River Gorge
Stunning scenery awaited us Thursday on our way up the Smith River canyon into Oregon. The early morning sun cast beautiful lights and shadows into the steep gorge. Too bad Chap couldn’t enjoy the views as he concentrated on keeping us safe from oncoming 18-wheelers on the very narrow, winding road. At times the guard rails were only a couple of inches from the white line on our side with immediate sheer drop-offs to the river 100 feet below. I just had to close my eyes a few times, but I’m relieved Chap didn’t close his. The pucker factor...

Jul 23, 2007 - Prospect RV Park
This venture turned out to be one of those "good thing you got a reservation, honey" things! As we left the Redmond city limits and later were approaching Prospect, OR on Hwy. 62 (aka Crater Lake Highway), we noticed that some of the same rigs had stayed with us throughout the drive. And they were going to the same park, too, as evidenced by the line waiting to get in and our "butt" that was hanging out into the highway. The woman camp host was incredible in the way she went between rigs providing encouragement about the wait and giving...
