Jun 7, 2018 - Oakridge, OR - Casey's Riverside RV Park

/// Casey's Riverside RV Park Oakridge, OR June 7th // A Travel Day: With another trip on just 90 miles we once again delayed our routine departure until 11:00 A.M. Our route today would take us north on Hwy 97 to the Jct of Hwy 58 and then west. The road conditions today were again very good. Traffic was fairly light except for occasional lines of traffic on Hwy 58. There were numerous passing lanes and with me even traveling at the speed limit of 55 or 60 mph many motorist seemed to be in a rush. The weather today was clear and mild. The...

Jun 7, 2010 - On the road again!

The weather throughout the Pacific Northwest has made it seem more like March than early June. We’ve been waiting to set a “launch date” for our Montana adventure, trying to anticipate some decrease in precipitation and some increase in temps. Both of those wish list items were notably absent for most of April and May. And now still in the first week in June we’ve had precip totals greater than the average entire month of June. We’re due at our “base camp”, Yellowstone’s Edge RV Park to begin a month’s stay on June 18. Hopefully the weather...

Feb 11, 2009 - Thousand Trails - Revistited

Well...we are now members of Thousand Trails ! Perhaps more out of spite than need... we decided that we could get a cheaper membership if we looked at the aftermarket transfer. That is when someone wants out of Thousand Trails, and they sell you their membership (for whatever you will pay) and then take over the annual dues. We are having the Harmon family reunion (Irma's Father's side) in Sun River Oregon this summer, and there are few RV places nearby, except for Thousand Trails. So Cal started searching the Internet (I think Google is...

Oct 9, 2008 - Riverside

We had heard a lot about a place called Casey's Riverside RV Resort, so we thought we would take a long weekend and try it out before the mountain snows started. Located near Oakridge, the RV Park is on the upper Willamette River. Our spot was literally on a bend in the fast flowing river, not 50 feet from our front door. Beautiful views! Driftboats floating by...and mountains all around. A lovely spot. http://www.caseysrvpark.com

Jun 21, 2008 - Thousand Trails

Almost everyone that buys a new motorhome gets an offer for a 'free' weekend at Thousand Trails. Thousand Trails is a membership camping club with many large 'preserves' around the country (mostly in the West), and with affiliations to other campground clubs. Like a timeshare, they want you to go through a 90 min presentation. Actually, we were very interested in joining, since we had heard good thinks from others about it. We went to Whaler's Rest, south of Newport on the Oregon coast. What was not a nice fday in the Willamette Valley, was...
