Mar 18, 2018 - Myrtle Creek OR March 18 - 19th

Staying at Tri City RV at Myrtle creek $17 per night(Passport America campsite - 50% off) The 7 feathers bunch have gotten greedy charging $45 -$60 per night for a RV spot. We will stay here 2 nights and recuperate from the long driving days. When I put the names of places we have stayed at it is a recommendation for others who follow these routes. I now must remove this location from the list because of waiting 2 days to have a hot shower and today it was ice cold!!!!! SHOWERS. They are very important in our stays, this one has failed...

Apr 28, 2017 - Up to Myrtle Creek, OR

Next morning on our way to Oregon, we stopped at WalMart in Yreka, CA for some Rum which would be more expensive in Oregon. Later in Oregon we stopped for diesel which is usually cheaper than California, but not the case today. We decided to stop in Myrtle Creek, OR at Tri-Cities RV Park (we have also stayed her before) and catch up on laundry with having full hook ups. We went to visit the Myrtle Creek Elks and chatted with some of the same members that we had met on a previous visit. They remembered us and after a bit, we remembered them....

May 18, 2016 - Myrtle Creek, OR

Traveled to Myrtle Creek, Oregon to stay at Tri City RV where we’ve stayed before. We had stunning views of Mt Shasta close up from the south, west and north sides. We passed many sections of Lake Shasta because of it’s unusual shape. I had to snap a picture of an overview of the lake on Google maps on my phone to see what it looked like. As we passed by Yreka, we saw the metal statues of Moo Donna, now with calf Moona Lisa, and Penelope the dragon.. These statues were created by Yreka artist Ralph Starritt. We have seen them on previous...

Jun 3, 2013 - Still in Oregon

Well, horrors upon horrors happened last night. Not only did we not have T.V., but we didn't have the Internet either. Now, I am not saying that we (mainly me) is dependent on our electronic devices...but, I AM! I had to find something else to do, and I realized that without my "toys" so to speak, I am not a happy girl. In actuality, I may be overstating my feelings as we did read, leaf through some magazines and ...well, we talked! It wasn't so bad. I am going to add some photos that we took on the way to Oregon. "All you need is trust...

Yippee Tyo's!

Jun 1, 2013 - Myrtle Creek, Oregon

Today we packed up and headed for Oregon. This time it would take us 5 hours. We drove through some beautiful California country. We went from the farm lands to the mountains driving past the gorgeous Lake Shasta and Mount Shasta itself. Our first stop was at a place called All-Star Liquors. We have been frequenting this store for many years whenever we have gone up and down the Interstate 5 corridor. They have the most amazing collection of liquor at the best prices anywhere. We have always stocked up when we go there. This time I got a...

Jan 15, 2013 - Myrtle Creek to Red Bluff

Believe it or not, the temp actually warmed up a bit overnight, which was a good omen, as I was hoping the Siskiyou summit would be passable by the time I got there. After stalling for a little while, today’s journey began. I had two options today – go over the pass, or head to the coast at Grants Pass, so I was checking the ODOT cameras along the way to get a feel for the pass. As luck would have it, the skies were clear, the temps were reasonable, and the pavement was mostly dry. So over the pass we go. Lots of snow on the surrounding...

Jun 28, 2012 - Myrtle Creek, Oregon

The four of us decided to only travel as far as Myrtle Creek, Oregon on our way to Salem. The scenery was lovely heading north on Interstate 5, and there was something odd on the side of the road that I barely caught on camera. About five miles south of Yreka, on the eastside of the Interstate, there stands an unusual cow. Her name is Moodonna & she's been standing there for many summers and winters, gazing contentedly at the passing freeway traffic. She was “born” in 1995 when a group of women in Yreka were interested in learning the art...

Apr 8, 2012 - Happy Easter

May this Easter bring you joy and happiness, may you enjoy this wonderful day with friends and family. We wish you blessings. The fasts are done; the Aves said; The moon has filled her horn And in the solemn night I watch Before the Easter morn. So pure, so still the starry heaven, So hushed the brooding air, I could hear the sweep of an angel's wings If one should earthward fare. ~Edna Dean Proctor, "Easter Morning"

Apr 7, 2012 - California to Oregon

Out of Corning with our intention of reaching Glendale, Oregon in mid afternoon. We drove the mountains of California with the beautiful scenery. Mt. Shasta area and the lake are someplace we want to visit someday. Before getting to Oregon, we had to stop at All Star Liquors at Hilt, California right before hitting the Oregon border. We had orders from friends and family in Washington, not to mention to replenish our own supply. You can even call ahead with your order and they will have it ready for you when you arrive. Oh, my, a candy...

Sep 11, 2010 - Our favorite lighthouse

A visit to Yaquina Head We bid goodbye to Kate and Don (over blueberry muffins) then headed down the Oregon coast. The drive through Newport was nostalgic as we’ve spent a lot of time up here over the years and have some good memories. On our way through we stopped at Yaquina Head Lighthouse. I’ve painted this lighthouse more times than I can count, and it was good to see it again. I think of it as a remote and lonely place but today it was crowded with tourists. I like my mental picture more than the reality but everyone has the right to...

2010 Race 2 Finish

Sep 1, 2010 - Oregon

Only spent one night in Myrtle Creek, OR. Nothing much to see as it us just a small town we used for a stopover. However, did get some good pictures on the road. Oregon is a beautiful state with plush green mountains as far as the eye can see. However, we did get into some "tight" spots this morning when we left for California. We did fine on the interstate, but then we had to get on State Hwy 199 to get over to the beach. As you can see from the pictures, the road was narrow and we had to pass several rock walls. When Steve would meet an...
