Nov 25, 2011 - Thanksgiving Day, 11-24-11

Thursday, November 24, 2011 - Thanksgiving I slept well last night, knowing that Zoey was inside and safe. It was really quiet here and I didn’t hear any noise until after I got up. Now that it is light, I can see what the place looks like. The area is high desert with some low rolling hills, covered mainly with scrub brush, with nothing taller than about two feet (see photos). The sky is cloudy this morning, but the sun keeps poking through and it is bright, and dry for a change. A nice change from the constant rain I’ve dealt with for...

Nov 24, 2011 - Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011 McMinnville to Lebanon

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 It rained hard all night long, with heavy gusts of wind jarring me awake as it would rock the motor home and whip the slide-out canopies, making a loud snap. It hasn’t let up since I awoke and doesn’t look like it will. Water is standing everywhere, not having enough time to drain off. I finished my update of yesterday and will post it as soon as I have a decent Internet connection. I plan on heading out this morning, but I’m not in a big hurry, seeing how there is no “check out” time here. I am so tired of the...

Jul 28, 2009 - Wenatchee, WA to Lebanon, OR

We're home! It took us 68 days to get here, and 7,525 miles in the motorhome, taking the long way around through B.C. and Alaska, but we're back home now and it does feel good. Unfortunately we failed to keep track of mileage on the "toad". We arrived smack in the middle of our annual heat wave, 105 degrees yesterday and forecast for the same again today, even hotter tomorrow. We usually have about a week of real hot weather in the Summer but that is extreme. It's a hard adjustment after getting used to day after day of temperatures in the...

May 12, 2009 - pre-trip prep

Here it is almost the middle of May and we are deeply immersed in preparations for the trip to Alaska. We have already had the motorhome serviced, a few minor repairs done and have done a lot of packing also. It's our understanding that the price of food in Canada is quite high so we have stocked up on more food supplies than usual. Done a lot of arranging and then rearranging in order to find a place for everything. Next step was to have the Tracker serviced and checked over for anything that might need to be fixed before we depart. That...

Jul 8, 2008 - DAY 3: Gold Hill KOA to Lebanon, OR - Fred and Arlene's Farm

TRAVEL DAY 3; TRIP DAY 3: Arlene and Fred Klock's gentlemen farm in Lebanon is where we spent our 3rd evening on the road. Again this year, we are making this journey. It is only 200 miles but up and down and up and down through the rolling hills of Interstate 5. These highways are in need of repair! From the time we pulled up and parked the kids, grandkids and dogs went right to work visiting all the animals and parts of the farm. They even tried to swim in the canal, but decided it was too cold for them. Since last year they have lost one...
