May 19, 2016 - Keizer, OR

We headed to the Salem area and found out that the Salem Elks Lodge RV park was full, but the next closest lodge Keizer Elks had openings. We had some light drizzle along the way as we passed the Umpqua and Willamette Rivers. We passed by a vineyard that looked different from the way they grow them in California, and some fields of sheep and lots of green pastures. Keizer Elks RV Park is nice, full hook ups (50 amp) for $20 a night including WiFi. In the street in front of the lodge (including part of their parking lot) and next door on...

Mar 26, 2015 - China 2015

Over 3 years ago my friend, Teli, and I decided we wanted to see China. So, we began saving - not knowing when it may happen. After a year or so, Teli asked if I thought we'd ever really go. I decided then that since I could not find a Women's only tour group going, that I would plan the trip myself. So, I began planning. The more I read, the more I realized that I needed to be ready for trains one day, planes another, walking and then going by boat sometimes. I then realized I was planning on going places where I could not converse with...

Enjoying this World

Sep 26, 2014 - The house is in escrow

We moved back to the Keizer Elks to be close for some appointments in Portland and we enjoy this park so much. In mid-afternoon we received a phone call from our realtor telling us we have an offer on our house. This came as a real surprise, primarily because the real estate season in Graeagle essentially shuts down after Labor Day. There are 2 reasons for this, first this is a small resort town and secondly the golfers are gone for the upcoming winter. After several counter offers back and forth; sellers and buyers reached a deal with an...

Sep 19, 2014 - Keizer Elks

About 40 miles all the way down to Keizer today. We stopped at the Camping World in Wilsonville to purchase some jack pads. They made from recycled tires and we're hopeful they will help us to more easily level on gravel surfaces. Most of the sites at this Elks are pull through spots, but we found a back in site along the fence line that will shaded from noon on for the rest of day. With warm weather, this will be a good spot. 2 nights here then down to Eugene and the RV Corral for some of the parts that have arrived for our motorhome.

Jul 19, 2014 - Keizer Elks

After checking out Gary & Cheryl's new Journey at Camping World, we headed south for the Keizer Elks on the north edge of Salem. The traffic was up to speed but heavy for a Saturday. But maybe that's now the normal for the greater Portland area. Things have changed a bit since leaving this area in 1977. We have checked in at the Elks for a couple of nights. Lannie & Darlene from North Bend, Oregon are parked next to us and suggested we take advantage of the Sunday morning Brunch, which we did. It was very good. On Sunday afternoon, we went...

Jun 20, 2014 - Near Salem, Oregon, a capital city

After we arrived at Neskowin Creek, we attempted to extend our stay through the weekend, but to no avail, they are already overbooked. So Friday morning we made a short drive over to Keizer, a suburb of Salem, to stay at the beautiful Elks Lodge for 2 nights. A very nice 42 space park with full hook-ups. Our repairs will begin in Eugene on Monday morning, so we plan to arrive at the dealership Sunday to get set up and be ready for an early start on Monday at 7:30 AM. Some of you may recall that one of the things I like to do in looking for...

Jul 12, 2012 - Checking Out Minor League Baseball

Tonight we went to a minor league, single-A baseball game! Jerry loves these types of baseball games and when he discovered the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes were going to play against the Yakima Bears – well, he was all over it! And off we went! The stadium was only ten miles from where we stay and the game began at 6:35 p.m. We arrived in plenty of time and opted for the general admission tickets for $8 each. After getting into the park, we both decided to kick it up a notch and see if we could “upgrade” our tickets and sit in the reserved...

Jun 30, 2011 - Spruce Goose

First of all – I'm SORRY!!! I forgot the camera so no pictures. But I'll try to describe it so you can see it. Wednesday, we headed down Hwy 22 from Tillamook to Keizer. It was like driving in a green tunnel. The road was narrow, and winding (not too much up and down) and had trees or hills on both sides really close to the road. It was a misty day – just enough to keep the windshield wipers on. So much for our waiting for a sunny day to travel. Tuesday was sunny – travel day was wet. As the road wound around the hills, there would be...

Summer 2011 Travels

Dec 23, 2009 - Keizer, Oregon

We had a layover day in Keizer, Oregon today to wait for our friends Heather and Peter to arrive. We spent the morning doing a few errands; I did a load of laundry and we went to Camping World to replace a light fixture that was burnt out. We also stopped at Costco where I bought the new WII Fit (thanks Mom for my Christmas present) I’ll be using that a lot along the way to try and stay in shape since I won’t be able to get out and walk as often as I’d like while we are on the road. Our friends made the trip without any trouble and we have...

Dec 22, 2009 - On the Road Again

We are on the road again. We have had a lovely (albeit short) visit with family and friends in Port Townsend over the last month, and this past weekend we had mini Christmas celebrations with Holly, Blaise and Noah and then another with my sister Katie and another with my folks and both my sisters. (My sister Susan was up visiting from California for the weekend) We crammed a lot of celebrating into a few days, and after some sad farewells, we have taken to the road once again. This year we have a bit of a different itinerary. For starters,...
