Oct 9, 2007 - Ghost Towns
Today I am going to search for ghost towns. There is a tourist guide to ghost towns published by the Chamber of Commerce. I don't have real high hopes but I am going anyway. My first destination is Auburn which was once the largest city in Oregon (gold rush), pop. 5000. Only the cemetery is left as the town was destroyed by fire in the early 1900's. Even with a GPS an topo maps I managed to miss a turn and can't find the town. Much searching failed to locate the road; I can see why some pay big bucks for color GPS units. The topo maps are...
