Apr 26, 2010 - Day 1 to Enterprise, OR

First day plans seldom work out but despite getting started a couple hours later than planned, I did make it to Enterprise before dark. Weather forecasts for thunder storms didn't pan out (or at least didn't hit where I was) so it was a pleasant drive. There were about eight road construction sites but no delays.

Laurilee's trip

Apr 7, 2010 - Enterprise, Day 2

Sun is shining, the view is awesome and I am going to clean the RV. Vacuumed, scrubbed the bathroom and kitchen, did dishes, made the bed, and buried the cat, in the bed. We went out to a few antique shops in town and then headed up to Joseph. Then headed on up to Lake Wallowa. Passed this National Historic Site in honor of Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe on the way and took pictures. The lake is extremely low but we did see this neat fountain that is left on all year and in winter the water freezes.

Sep 12, 2007 - Hell's Canyon National Recreation Area and Dams

With a goal of reachng Lewiston, ID by Thursday night we headed off from Dan and Jeanne's to drive on what we expected to be a gravel road in Oregon through the southeastern part of Hell's Canyon National Recreation Area. First we drove to McCall where we stopped at a car wash to WASH THE SATURN and get the dust off it. It took aLOT of Scrubbing! Then we enjoyed a nice lunch on a porch overlooking the beautiful Payette Lake in downtown McCall. McCall is a booming resort town, much more of a place than when Dick was going to the University...

Jul 23, 2007 - Enterprise

44317 July 23, 2007 Monday I headed off to Curves and Mike stayed around to get the filter on. He was finished by the time I returned. 7:40 Headed to the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest campground. First however is to get fuel in Prineville, diesel here is $2.95, the rig is thirsty and gobbles up 51 gallons in no time. The area we are traveling through is high dessert but there is a large reservoir the Ochoco. It is a recreation area with boating and camping. There are farms in the area with huge sprinklers running and large green fields....

Oct 25, 2005 - Eastern Oregon

Today was the start of week four of the road trip, but it was also a day of indecision. For the life of me, I couldn't decide what I wanted to do, or where I wanted to go. This long-winded entry is a pretty good idea of the way my mind rambled today. I had initially thought I would drive through Idaho on back roads to see Hells Canyon. However, soon after leaving Boise, I encountered the worst air of the entire trip. I didn't know if it was pollution, or what, but the air was nasty, and any scenery in the distance was in a dull haze. As I...

Aug 14, 2005 - Day 9 - We reach Oregon

We then turned due south for my final exam which was 50 miles of switchbacks and hairpin curves going up and down the sides of mountains (in Michigan they're mountains, out here big hills). Ray rode behind me most of the time so he could tell the rescuers where I fell off the mountain. The views here were even better. We would stop, take pictures, promise ourselves that we would take no more pictures, then stop again 2 miles later. And to make it more exciting, all the turn-ins for pictures were loose grave. Today I think I took more...
