For the first time in weeks, we headed east today, to the tiny town of Dayton, Oregon. We are really here to visit the Air and Space Museum in nearby McMinnville, but couldn't resist staying in John's namesake town. -- As we headed over the coastal range, we immediately left the fog and dreariness behind and passed into sunshine and blue skies! It really is a mood lifter to be back in the sunshine. Jul 9, 2009 - Wonderful Wineries
Started the day at the Willamette Valley Vineyard - a beautiful place with very reasonably priced wines. We had made an appointment for an 11 am tour. Caitlin was our guide ( they are private tours not group tours). After walking through the cellar and the bottling area we returned to the tasting room where we were served five different artisanal cheeses - all locally produced - along with tastes of five top wines which were served in Riedel glasses that we got to keep.
