Oct 3, 2018 - Big Pines RV Park is Expanding

Big Pines RV Park is in the middle of expanding, they are adding over 30 sites. So Pete has jumped in to help (as he loves to do when we are here). He enjoys working along side of Bruce, there's a lot of joking & razzing that goes on...but....when it comes to getting the work done, they definitely get the job done. It's been quite a team effort with Bruce, Bruce's Son Bob & his Dad Elmer. They've been digging trenches, laying pipes & whatever it is they need to do. When this expansion is done ....it will be awesome !!

Oct 3, 2018 - A Drive to the Lower Deschutes River

It been awhile since I have posted to the web site, we are still in Crescent, Oregon. Pete & I have done a little fishing, some shopping & enjoying a few meals out. We did take a drive to the Lower Deschutes River off of Highway 197. We took this drive on Sept. 5th, I know I've waited a bit before posting this, but I've been dragging my feet. The road that runs along the river starts out as asphalt then turns to a washboard dirt road. The mountain sides were like mounds of rocks fused together, really cool looking. Pete was expecting to...

May 28, 2018 - Newberry National Volcanic Monument

Out for some more sightseeing today, we took Roger & ReeAnn up to Newberry National Volcanic Monument. I have posted photos in the past, for Pete & I it was our 4th trip to take in the spectacular views, For Roger & ReeAnn...their 1st. The Monument is located in Deschutes National Forrest, it takes in some 54,000 plus acres of lakes, lava flows & some breath taking views. The higihest point is Paulina Peak (7,985 ft.). Newberry is often referred to as Newberry Crater, but it is actually a Caldera. We took in the views of Newberry Peak,...

Aug 16, 2017 - McKenzie Pass

Took a drive out to McKenzie Pass, took Hwy 20 through the town of Sisters then hooked it onto Hwy 242 to McKenzie Pass. On the way we saw smoke up on a mountain side....spooky sight. The drive up to the pass was beautiful, we were told from a couple of campers here in Big Pines that we should visit an old Observatory in this area. Glad we went, its really a cool area and is in the middle of a lava flow.

Aug 2, 2017 - Returned to Crescent, Oregon

After leaving Canyonville, Or. we drove back to Eugene to get our hot water heater issued repaired. We spent 4 nights there, giving us a little time to visit with friends & run some errands. The issue with our hot water heater was just a switch that had froze up, not allowing the heater to run on the electric. We are now back in Crescent, Oregon for a months stay at Big Pines, its time to visit friends here & get in some fishing. This Saturday Pete & I will be driving up to Redmond for the Deshuttes County Fair, haven't been to a fair in...

Jun 10, 2017 - Crescent Oregon Bound

We are now in Crescent, Oregon (we arrived on Thursday) we decided it was time to leave the coast & head inland . We of course are staying at Big Pines RV Park (our favorite). Our trip here was a rainy one & so far we've had rain & a little snow (which didn't stick) here at Big Pines. Our friend JD was here when we arrived so we got to spend a little time with him before he headed out for Utah this morning. We are here for a week & when that week is up (on the 15th) we'll be going to Pendleton Oregon (once again for a weeks stay). In the...

Jul 14, 2016 - Our time with Richard

Our time with Richard has come & gone, we drove him home on July 10th. Hard to believe how fast the time passed, we had a great time with him. We fished (he caught his first fish ever), hiked, shopped, wore grooves in the highways (running around), ate out, he had his fill of ice cream, took in the High Desert Museum, he saw a waterfall for the first time (Salt Creek Falls, he actually got to see Paulina Falls as well ), visited relatives, made smores at the campfire, hiked the Lava Flow at Newberry Volcanic National Monument, he drove our...

May 27, 2016 - Crescent Oregon Bound

We left Polson, Montana the morning of the 23rd (destination Crescent, Or.), we had two stops along the way. The first stop was at Pendleton, OR, we stayed in the Wildhorse Casino parking lot. Our second stop was in Eugene, staying once again at Premier RV Resort. This stop was once again for (you guessed it) more repairs. We had an issue with the new water pump Pete installed, we called our favorite RV Tech Manny & he was able to resolve the problem (nothing major). However....we saw water coming out around the hot water heater, it needed...

Sep 3, 2015 - Enjoying our Time

Since arriving here at Big Pines, we've done some fishing on Lava Lake & Miller Lake. The fishing at Lava Lake was not good at all, there was algae bloom in the water which didn't help. So far we have fished twice at Miller Lake, the first day we got skunked...no fish...drat !! The second day was better, 3 fair size trout & one that a bit short on growth (Pete picks on me about it cause I of course caught it)...ok...it could have grown up a bit more, but it was still legal. We took a drive up to the town of Sisters, we ran into friends...

Aug 21, 2015 - A Change in Plans Once Again, Returned to Crescent, Or.

Once again we made an adjustment to our travel plans, we were going to head to Northwest Montana once we left Tillamook. We decided to look at a map showing all active fires in that part of the state.....not a good idea to head there at this time.....DRAT !! So knowing that we will eventually head to Colorado (& Rocky Mt. National Park), we would slowly work our way in that direction. We have returned to Crescent, Oregon & Big Pines RV Park. Right now we are paid up for two weeks, thank you Bruce & Donna for squeezing us in at the last...
