Sep 20, 2013 - Back in Corbett, we've been away for 45 years!

We moved to the beautiful surroundings near the Columbia River Gorge of the Crown Point RV Park. Located in the very small village of Corbett, a location we lived in the first year of our marriage. Of course in that amount of time, things change significantly other than the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge. Saturday, we explored the Columbia River Gorge and saw it all over again like the first time, and we were awed. Therefore, all the pictures. While at Bonneville Dam we were visiting with one of the volunteer cashiers in the gift shop....

Jul 7, 2012 - 4th of July Fireworks

After a wonderful day at Mt ST Helens we finished up the 4th of July with fireworks at the small town of Corbett Oregon. We are staying in Crown Point RV Park, they have an open field where we took our lawn chairs and watched the fireworks. I felt like I was in Hilliard except we had on coats !!!! My new camera has a setting for fireworks, so I was glad to get to try it out. Wow I was surprised how well it worked. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Jun 30, 2012 - Columbia River Gorge, Oregon

Thank God for another safe travel day. We will be staying at Crown Point RV in Corbett Oregon. That is about 20 miles east of Portland. Wow this is a beautiful place. We are staying in the Historical Columbia River Gorge area Hwy. 30 it is the river that divides Washington State and Oregon. All along this route are view points of the river that looks over into Washington. One of the most photographed sites along the route is the Vista House at Crown Point I didn’t know what the place was, I though it was just a view point to see the...

Oct 2, 2011 - Portland Area Visit and a New Transmission for the Escape

Monday we did not leave Tom’s place until 1 pm because we waited for FedEx to deliver the new GPS. We decided to stay at Cabalas in Post Falls as they are friendly for dry camping and we have stayed there before. We also like to look through the Cabalas store in the evening. Tuesday morning we got an early start (at least early for us) and headed west on I-90 to US 395. We then went south on US 395 all the way to I-84 in Oregon. We stopped at a truck stop in Biggs for diesel, since this was a long day on top of the travel Monday. Then on...

Sep 26, 2011 - Day #18, 9-26-11

Day #18, 9-26-11 I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. It was raining hard and you could hear it on the roof of the RV. We had our share yesterday and it makes RV driving a little more perilous in the mountains. We decided not to do any site seeing today and take advantage to the down-day to get the oil changed on the Motor Home as it was 300 miles past due. I located a Camping World Store in the local town of Wood Ville and had the servicing taken care of. They were really good about getting me in and out without an...

Sep 25, 2011 - Day #17, 9-25-11

Day #17, 9-25-11 Well, I am at the point that I believe that we are just “Late Starters”! Despite our best intensions, we just can’t seem to get in gear too early. At this rate, we may make it back by Christmas. After breakfast, we broke camp and headed for the Washington State border. We want to spend a few days there are a lot of things to see around the Portland area along with the Columbia River Gorge. We headed up HWY 97 and made a diversion from our plans. We branched off on HWY 26 and headed North-West till we got to Mount Hood. The...

Jun 30, 2011 - Day 30 - To the Columbia Gorge

Well the day was mostly cloudy all day. We left about 9am to head to the Columbia River Gorge. Heading up Hwy 213 toward I205 we stopped to get Jay's hair cut at a Great Clips. He normally goes to an "old-fashioned" barber where he pays $10 so he was surprised it was $16 for a cut. We then decided to find the Chevy dealer and have the check engine light checked out. We thought it was fixed when we replaced the gas cap and the light went out, but it came back on. So an hour later and $199 the car was fixed and we were headed to the Gorge...

Sep 10, 2008 - Corbett, OR

The last thing the maintenance guys suggested was to get some computer updates for our CAT. So we got on the internet, found a dealer in Portland and made an appointment for today. This place was a huge facility and it stays open until 11 PM. Well, the updates got applied without a hitch. They did it for nothing. Hopefully, we should notice better performance and maybe better gas mileage. We pulled into Corbett, Or at Crown Point RV Park about 7 PM. Corbet, OR is along the Columbia River which is heaped in history and Lewis and Clarke. The...
