Aug 29, 2012 - Trip from Clackamas to Waldport/Newport KOA

Our trip to Waldport was uneventful (always a good thing). We left Clackamas at about 2:00 pm and arrived at our campground around 5:00 pm. I decided to take highway OR34 west of Corvallis since it bypassed Newport and I thought it would be a little quicker....wrong; it is a windy two-lane highway through the mountains and I averaged about 30 miles an hour. Would never do it again, but it was an awfully pretty drive. Arrived at Waldport/Newport KOA and got set up then drove into town to find something to eat. Nothing in Waldport so we drove...

Aug 11, 2012 - First day on the road - Travel from Clackamas to Sisters

Left home at about 9:00 AM, headed for Curtis Trailers to pick up our RV which was in for services. Traffic was light and we made good time, arriving at about 10:15. Was shocked to find out I was billed $175.00 for what I thought was warranty work. Will have a very interesting conversation with the Service Manager next week. We had an uneventful drive to Sisters where we checked in, parked our RV, did minimal setup and headed to town to find an eating place.

May 15, 2012 - Washer/Dryer Repair

We left Silver Spur Rv Park on the 15th at 7am in order to drive the 37 miles to Clackamas for our 8am appointment. It took just over an hour because of heavy going to work traffic, Clackamas is just east of Portland. The service guy came out to the rig and had the dryer repaired in less than a half hour. We were back on the road by 9:15 and headed east on I84 along the Columbia River to Memaloose State Park for a five night stay.

Mar 2, 2012 - Clackamas, OR (Home)

We got back home today. It was an uneventful trip, the weather had settled and it was dry most of the way, we had a couple showers but nothing significant. We were supposed to leave yesterday, but Sharon woke up sick and spent the day in bed. She feels well enough to travel today but isn't her perky self yet. We spent just over two weeks in the trailer, our longest trip to date. It was a lot of fun even though the weather wasn't great (what can you expect in Oregon in February), but we were able to get out and do some things anyway. This is...

Feb 15, 2012 - Clackamas, OR (Home)

We left Clackamas today for Cannon Beach. We hoped to get on the road by noon but it took longer to get the trailer loaded and hitched than we expected. We made a stop at Fred Meyer for groceries and other supplies, then had to gas-up and made a stop at Les Schwab to get air in the tires before actually getting on the road. The stop at Les Schwab turned out to be of value as they are a dealer for the TowMax tires I have on the trailer. If we have tire problems I now know where to go for service. Traffic was a little heavy getting through...

Nov 14, 2007 - All the same, "I'd rather be the crow".

Well, we won't be leaving for Texas in time to make it to the Rio Grande valley. The medics just won't be done with me soon enough so we had to cancel our reservations. But for now we don't lose our deposit. We have a years grace before we lose anything. It seemed pretty nice to me. I guess RV parks like where we we're going understand their clientele? I'm sure there are always people, like us, who have medical changes in plans and they need to make allowances for that. Good for them, good for us. Other than that, 'all is well'. The...

May 1, 2007 - The Hook and Bullet

Sometimes better known as the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. ODFW. I use the term humorously and with a degree of respect. I think that is not the origin. Actually, it is my understanding that the term derives from the two largest contributors to its coffers. That would be fishing and hunting. Licenses and tags. And it is used somewhat derogatorily by folks in the organization who don't get as much money or respect as they think they should. Maybe just a bit of 'sour grapes'. Oh well. So! We're here at the Hook and Bullet in...
