Anne’s birthday. We slept a little later than usual, had breakfast and a walk along the shores of the Deschutes River. Leaving the park we stopped to see the “Big Tree” – a huge ponderosa pine that is 162 ft tall; 8.5 ft in diameter, and an estimated 500 years old. The road south from Lapine toward Crater Lake was busy and they have not improved the road much since we were last here; there is enough traffic that the road needs to be 4 lane.
