Read and rate Travel Journal Entries for Cape Meares, Oregon, United States

Jul 11, 2012 - Back Up to Tillamook and Beyond . . .

Finally we headed to the Oregon coast to check it out after Linda and Steve merely whetted our appetites to see more of it last month! Today we thought we would head north via Tillamook. Our game plan was to, a) stop by the Tillamook Air Museum, b) visit the Blue Heron French Cheese Company, c) revisit the Tillamook Cheese Factory for Jerry to get some more of his favorite cheese curds, and d) continue our course westward taking the Three Capes Scenic Loop. We left the coach a bit before 9:00 with bright sunny skies overhead and wonderful...

Sep 9, 2011 - Arrival at the Pacific Coast

Well, after four weeks of travel I've finally reached the Pacific Coast. It is unbelievably beautiful here. As I was leaving Portland I decided to head in the direction of Cape Meares for no other reason than it looked like I might get a view of the ocean and have a nice drive up to Astoria which is my ultimate destination (the final stop of Lewis & Clark). Jun 12, 2010 - Three Capes

The morning started off kinda gray, but we decided to go to the coast anyway. By the time we got to the west side of Portland the sun came out and it turned out to be a beautiful day. We actually got to see 79 degrees, wow, been a long time. We drove to Tillamook, home of the famous cheese, and stopped at the Air Museum just south of town. All of the aircraft in this privately owned collection are flyable. Kind of a rarity in air museums. The biggest thing in the collection is the building, it‘s huge. The museum is housed in a former...

Aug 25, 2007 - The Oregon Coast, Mount St. Helens and a dark Mt. Rainer

After a very early morning rise and a brief amount of time getting dressed, Julie and I were "out the door" anxiously embracing our adventure for today. Our intentions for this day are to drive down the coastline of Oregon and take in the sites. After a brief breakfast stop at Panera Bread for pastries and Starbucks for coffee (our first since we have arrived in the home town to the infamous coffee chain), we were well on our way. As we drove down I-5 toward the 101 Oregon Coastal Route, Julie and I were amazed at the traffic we were...
