May 18, 2013 - Stay over
Stayed over in Thackerville, OK No hurry to get up this morning as we were staying over again, Buddy made breakfast then we went into Gainesville, TX found a few yard sales, then went to the outlet mall, however there were only a couple stores opened all the rest closed up, then to Wal Mart to pick up a few things and decided to go ahead and fill up truck and extra gas cans since diesel was on $3.49 the cheapest so far, after Wal Mart we went to Dieders BBQ which was recommended by campground, it sure wasn’t Rib City, but it was okay, back...

May 17, 2013 - Travel Day
BEGINNING MILEAGE 420046 Well we made it through the storm with only quite a bit of rain, now if we can get through these next few states and get the heck of the this storm belt it will be GREAT. We went for another walk this morning before getting on the road about 8:20 with temperature at 67 degrees. Traveled up Hwy 82 all day, Buddy saw some deer along the road and just more farm fields and some horse farms in Texas, also the speed limit got up to 70 mph on a two lane highway and in the towns dropped only to 55, stopped for fuel in...

Sep 20, 2012 - Winstar Casino .....
Most of our time in Thackerville, Oklahoma was spent relaxing and going to the casino. Can't stay too long in the casino due to Fran's COPD, when she gets where she thinks she needs fresh air to breathe that is our cue to leave, so maybe 30 - 45 minutes max. Well, anyway, money wise we came out ahead at this stop. Ken won more than Fran lost! We found this casino so interesting and the RV park was super. It is named Winstar World Casino and inside they have sections - New York - London - Beijing - Cairo - Vienna - Paris - Madrid - hence the...

Sep 18, 2012 - Travel day - Thackerville, Oklahoma
Our travel day and our couple of days in Oklahoma City. We didn't do much in OKC except getting our supplies replenished. But one day we did take the time to visit Stockyard City in Oklahoma City mainly because Guy on DDD had featured a steakhouse in the stockyard area and we decided to visit the area and have lunch at another DDD place. Food was good and service was great. Our travel day was uneventful and that is a super thing! No rain! No winds! and Winstar Casino RV Park is just as super as our friends had said! Have Fun and Stay...

May 29, 2012 - Thackerville, OK
No pictures this time. Here is what happened. While we were in Tahlequah, our neighbor, our pastor, and my friend, Robert Clement died. He fainted while out on a walk, hit his head and died of brain bleeding. The day after we got to Thackerville, we flew home, and attended the memorial service for Robert. It was very well attended with people flying in from all over the world. Robert worked in missions and was all over the world. This is a really big loss for us and our little church. We flew back here the next day. The past two days have...

Oct 5, 2010 - Thackerville, Oklahoma
No pictures here either. On our drive to Thackerville the air conditioning in the truck quit working. When we got to the rv park in Thackerville, we found that there are thistles everywhere. They are the kind I call "goat heads". They are round with small spikes in every direction. We changed our plans, instead of staying here for 7 days, we are moving after only two days. The next place will be closer to a Freightliner dealer so I can get the air conditioning fixed. Tomorrow before we leave we are going to get our free senior breakfast at...

Drove 35 miles over to Red River Ranch ROD on the Red River dividing Texas and Oklahoma. Friend Monique Laplante was there and we enjoyed a great week together. Casino, jam session with Monique participating along with Lee Payne, Bobby Caswell (Cajun Music Hall of Fame) and Harry on harmonica. Played "Oh Hell" with the local residents several nights, bingo in the afternoon and of course visited the Winstar casino a couple times along with the Truck stop casino, both of which were only a couple miles from the resort. Last day there was...

When we went into see the sixth floor where the fatal shot of President Kennedy came from the power went out and we weren't able to get in. So we did some walking around then got in the car and drove out to the the new football stadium and we missed that one by half hour. Then we drove out to the Texas Motor...

Jan 2, 2010 - Red River
We decided to see some of the area and traveled over to Gainesville, TX. To do so, we had to cross the Red River and I now know why it is named such. The Red River is red. I am sure it is due the red clay dirt that is part of itsd river banks but is was incredible to see, just the same. Our next stop was in Germantown at a place called Rumpys. They advertised themselves as traditional german food........Not Of course, we didn't realize until after we made several purchases. Live and learn. On into town, this was such a cute town. Incredible...
